New here but had 2 past Tundras. I saw this one for sale but wow the prices on these are crazy. I looked at the new Tundras but not sure about them yet. I am very familiar with the old gen tundras. Many pluses to speak of. I saw this Cav blue 2019 Tundra for sale with 24,368 miles but they want $48,984. It is very unique with the color scheme. What are you all seeing out there as far as trucks with good pricing or same as I see with major mark ups above old sticker on used Tundras? Thank you

The miles is helping the case, but it’s a little $picy for an SR5. Paid less for my Limited TRD OR CM with 40k miles a few months ago.

Thanks. I check Texas dealers a lot for deals and also they have more inventory. I usually look at Fred Haas but any other dealers you can recommend checking?

Welcome! Paid $54k for 2020 crewmax trd pro back in October last year, but had to search for a while. Prices seem to have only gone up since then

That just kinda is what it is. I paid 38k for an 18 sr5 with 60k miles in feb 2021 and feel like I got a decent deal. My SR5 has weird options from all the packages. Like the dude was just randomly checking boxes.

Welcome and greetings from Minnesota. Limited inventory ( if any ) and the prices are crazy here too. I just sold my 2000 4Runner SR5 with 164,500 miles on it for $12,500 in less than 24 hours. One guy even said he would fly up from Florida to get it. He was the 3rd guy to respond, 1st guy bought it. I was lucky with my 2021 Tundra. Had to wait till March 8th because of the recall/stop sale but only paid MSRP - no dealer add ons.

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! The prices for both new and used vehicles in general are going to stay high until the chipmakers can supply the needed chips for the new vehicles. Good luck in your search!

Thanks. My last tundra is still running. I gave it to my nephew and it had a little over 300k on it. He has put around 10K on it since he has had it. I would have run that till 500k. So since the new tundras are not proven out yet I would rather get the older gen

I spent all of March 2022 searching both locally and nationally for a black 2021 TRD Pro. I also searched Auto Trader and Carmax. But every single dealer that had a 21 Midnight Black Pro with under 15,000 miles wanted $65-$69k. The only ones priced under $65k had 20,000 or more miles. Finally I was watching a YouTuber (Scotty Kilmer) talk about Carvana and how you don’t get to drive the car before purchase but you get a week to try it out and have mechanic look at it. So I checked their site and found a midnight black TRD Pro with window tint, bed cover, and running boards with only 2,000 miles (built August 2021) for $61,900. They had a million pictures of the interior and exterior. I bought it immediately. When it arrived I took it straight to a dealer I trust. Several wheel nuts were loose and Carvanna had done a terrible oil change (left mess on skid plate). My dealer took care of those issues. It checked out fine and runs and smells fantastic.

I was close to buying a 2021 Tundra in Nov 2020 for $57k MSRP. At the time the idea of paying MSRP/Sticker price was crazy to me. My thinking was there should be a discount on MSRP since the remodeled 2022 Tundra was just around the corner. So I waited for the 2022 which ended up taking until March 2022. I hated the increased pricing, lack of a V8, the smaller cabin size, booster issues and general poor fit/finish of the 2022 Limited and 1794 trims I was able to check out. So I decided the 2021 TRD PRO was the Truck I should get. Now those trucks used were priced higher then they were brand new! Getting mine for $61,900 with window tint, running boards and bed cover was a good deal considering current market prices but…it annoys the hell out of me that I ended up paying above MSRP because I didn’t pull the trigger in Nov 2020.

The fact that the pro I could have had for $57k didn’t have window Tint, running boards or bed cover does take some of the sting away though.

I understand completely as I was holding out for the new 2022 Tundra also but could have jumped on a couple Platnums or TRD PRos. Lesson learned. I have checked out the Carvana and they have some on their site but I guess everyone knows now as no TRD pros on the site currently.

    Thanks

The weird thing was when I saw the truck I ended up buying it was listed for $61,900. There were other TRD pros with same options and color but more miles listed on the same site (Carvana) for $64-$65k.

I also considered vroom and carmax when I was searching, but the prices are on the higher end with the mileage they typically have

Carmax had the highest prices in everyone. Although that doesn’t take into consideration the thousands dealers throw on top of the pride of the car. One dealer called it Toyota Customer Care. For $3,000 they “recondition” a used vehicle by vacuuming the interior and running the car through a car wash.

oh yes they have been getting stupid creative if there is such a term. I have seen many vehicles with nothing more than market adjustment with nothing added to the vehicle but the price.

As someone looking to buy a tundra shortly and sell a 3rd Gen (2002) limited. I am very interested in hearing more. Mind sending me a PM around where you listed (forum?) and what you had done? That is a crazy price

Welcome to the club. Thats a nice looking truck. I just bought a 2020 Tundra TRD Pro in super white a month ago here in Texas. Paid new sticker price for it with 14k miles. I sold my 14 Tundra sr5 cm for a fair deal in my opinion. I hope you find what you are looking for. As long as you are happy. Thats what counts.

This sounds similar to my situation a few months back in Nov/Dec 2021. After selling my 2014 Tacoma back in Oct and getting nearly what I paid for it used back in 2015, I was on the hunt for a Tundra. The looks of the 2022 still haven’t grown on me so I was looking for a MGM 2020 or 2021 Pro, but either the prices were insane or I would get sniped by someone beating me to the dealer. I finally found one at just over $60k at carmax with bed cover, predator steps, etc. Though I swore never to set foot in carmax again :facepalm:I opted to give them a try and found a 2020 with just over 3,000 miles but with no pictures yet! I ordered it online and finally got photos and the chance to test drive for 30 days and return it if unhappy. It checked out and despite a couple minor cosmetic issues it proved solid. Now at just over 6000 miles and no regrets. The pain of the Tundra price was offset by the cash I received for the Tacoma.

You're shopping at the wrong time unfortunately. Used car and trucks are at their all-time high in values. Also, when new dealers don't even have new inventory to sit on their lots, they are turning towards the used car market. Have you tried going through an auto broker? They will buy from the Manheim auctions, (same place as dealers buy from).

Perhaps, but I used increasing interest rates and the cost of gas to talk down the price in my favor. "Look, not too many folks are going to be coming in here"
