What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

They do. I prefer to gain caster from the lower rather than upper. Honestly with these numbers it drives perfect. The camber just bugs me. But it’s not going to kill the tires.

I know she isn’t fast so I drive like a grandpa. When I get the rest of the 4.88’s, maybe things will change.

 

My check engine light was coming on intermittently recently, so possibly.

 

Yeah I was just laughing, we added about the same weight. You started heavier, but gears go a long way...

 

I added some help to the back for heavy loads or towing.

 

Curious, how'd you decide on the position of the bag, was it in the instructions?

 

It was in the instructions. The 2wd and the 4wd differ a little. The bump stops I have changed it a bit plus I had to adjust a little to avoid hitting the actual bag on the frame. I’m rambling. Long story short I adjusted to fit the best way I saw it fit. But the base is where it’s suppose to be.

 

I thought we all just overpay for those fancy fenders?

I spent a large portion of the weekend building another new exhaust for the 911. I'd put LTs on the truck. NBD.

 

Passenger side window was having issues and not rolling up. Did a little research and the plastic tabs that hold the window to the window track are held by silicon. Cleaned up the window and plastic tab then applied some epoxy for the fix.

 

Bought a new discontinued bakflip cover from real trucks eBay page, half price, and got a front end level.

 

How much the bakflip set you back, and is it the FiberMax? It looks good, I like how flush and cleanly inset it is. I ended up going with the TonnoPro, it's not ugly by any stretch, it was inexpensive, but I definitely prefer yours.

Also, nothing to the rear on your truck? Fender gap looks about an inch higher in the rear and 2-3" in the front after your level. You just toss on some 5100s at level 2 or spacers up front?

I had les Schwab do just 2” spacers in the front. It went up about 2.5” but will probably settle I’m guessing. The back is stock but I do have airbags that were put on by the previous owner. I had Schwab’s check them to make sure they were still good and they set them to about 40 so that’s why the back is higher now too.

Appreciate the links. I think I paid around $220 shipped for my TonnoPro. I'm going to be eyeballing that FiberMax. I like their new MX4 or whatever also. It's not quite as glossy.

Welcome from (not for long) SE Portland! Nice clean rig, be careful with these idiots on our roads. Never had an accident before moving here and now have been hit 3 times since. Crazy considering I was commuting an hour each way in San Diego and a whopping 5 miles just down pretty much a single street here.

 

You will drive like a teenager when that Spintech gets installed.

 

I mean, I've heard my whole life that statistic about how your likelihood of getting in an accident within x miles of your house is overwhelming but never looked into the validity of it. I mean, I'm assuming most drivers typically do the nonsensical "autopilot" driving when closest to home in familiar territory and the volume of that driving for "regular" folks is super high, and that contributed to it, but I dunno.

I will say, both accidents I've been in since moving to ATL that weren't parking lot incidents were less than 10 miles from home. In one, Young Thug rear ended the pickup behind me at a high rate of speed while at a stop light 6-7 miles from home, shoving that truck into my Camry and doing a little over $20k in damage, frame inclusive. The other time, some lady made an illegal right on red about 4 miles from my house and tagged the front passenger corner of that same Camry, which I'd just taken out of the shop from the prior celebrity incident.

Parking-lot wise, I had someone back into my 535, scuffing the bumper about 6 miles from the house, and I had the Tundra for a few months when some jackass backed into my bumper while I was donating stuff to charity, I was away maybe 5 minutes tops, it's the main reason I don't have a color-matched bumper anymore.

But since I can't find anyone that has pre-loaded 5100s in stock, I guess I'll buy it and sell my TonnoPro for half what I got it for. When I got the TonnoPro, all the BAK models I found were $800 on sale at best, so this is a hell of a score IMHO.

I didn't realize there was a 2" difference in the bed dimensions between the RCRB/AC trucks and the DC trucks. For some reason I thought it was an inch or less. BAK is saying their 6'2" product is for DC and the 6'4" is for AC/RCRB

 

These seemed like such a good deal since used ones are the same price or more so I thought I’d share. I wasn’t totally sure about the difference between AC and DC either so I called and talked to someone at Real truck. Partly to make sure it was legit and second to make sure that it fit since it says you can’t return it otherwise. I was close to buying a G2 that would’ve been in the high $800 range so I was pretty happy to come across this one before I got one of those.
