Are 1794s having all the same issues?

As the title says, it seems almost every problem I've read is on other trim levels. I've seen one or two posts involving a 1794. Are these not experiencing as many issues or is it that fewer are owned?.....or third, I just haven't seen the posts.

I don't really care for the additional chrome, but am contemplating selling my platinum and getting a 1794 if they are less problem prone.

My guess, same factory, same part numbers, same parts bins. Luck of the draw no matter what model you get.

No, I got it back after 5 weeks. I now have a list of 6-7 things waiting on parts or Toyota to work out the issue. I really like the features, operation, etc of the 22 Tundra, but this one has really left a bad taste in my mouth, so to speak. I think a new vehicle, particularly one almost 70G, should be a great experience, and this truck has not been. I want a second try, LOL.

Man, I’d be barking big time. The dealer should be communicating your experience to Toyota and Toyota should be taking care of you. I used to work for another manufacturer and when a client would have an experience like this they would typically buy the vehicle back and get the client into something similar or better for a nice discount. Five weeks is lemon law territory and it sounds like you’re going to be sending it in for even more work. Might be time to chat with a lemon law attorney!

Maybe it’s just me but if I had a ‘22 Plat that was a pile I would not be looking to trade it on a ‘22 1794. Good luck.

Well, that's why I asked the original question. I'm not reading hardly any complaints from 1794 owners. I love my truck, the drive, technology, etc would hands down be the nicest vehicle I've ever owned if I wasn't having the problems I'm experiencing.

You could take a chance if you feel lucky. Many 3rd gen owners seem to be very happy with their truck. Maybe the one you have now is an outlier. I wouldn’t do it but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.

Hey, if I could get a new one with only 3-4 problems that'd be twice as good as this one hahaha.

I'm hoping some 1794 owners chime in.

One thing to consider is for what you’ll pay for a new 1794 you can buy a GM HD 4x4 and have a truck with much more capability. Just a thought.

Have a 1794 myself with a little over 1500 miles. Very happy with the truck. Do have the issue with the rear window weather stripping being a tad bit too short but I think they are all this way.

i also believe the wireless charger could be better but with the apple silicone cases I don’t think the phone moves around as much and so it does work. Without the cases it works great.

Not having any issues though with the truck so far.

Also like most I seem to hear a weird click or noise of some type when it starts some times but I hear plenty of people have this same issue so again not a 1794 thing. (Under the truck)

Wish the large 14” display could do some split screens but it is what it is.

No stalling, no engine lights/no noise when driving no real issue other than what I mentioned above which to me aren’t big deals.

Truck is comfortable, like the brown leather and it’s got good power and plenty options and so far (knock on wood) trouble free.

    Hope it stays like this…

i personally am happy with the purchase l

Someone also reported earlier today their 1794 passenger mirror fell apart with less than. 300 miles.

I thought 1794s were not released day one and were held back for a bit. I assume some of the easy stuff found on SR5s was filtered out before the 1794 run?

I remember Platinum and 1794 owners being upset they had to wait longer than other trim levels.

Relatively speaking, I'd say I have an "early" model Platinum. I ordered mine in Nov with an original build date of Dec 13 that was pushed back a week or two. Your reply is one of the things I was wondering, did the 1794 builds start at the same time and are mixed in on the same assembly line or made in a different batch.

Would agree definitely some odd items on my 1794, memory seats seem to have their own mind, drivers door seal was twisted and shockingly to me is just held on with 3m, 14 inch screen that can’t be split is beyond dumb, mine came with trailer tow mirrors even though not ordered, I think 18 wheelers have smaller mirrors. Seats are really nice, interior is nice except for the plastic wood, motor and tranny are great but guys saying 20mpg must be driving 55 or something, I just did a 500 mile trip at 75-80mph 17mpg by the lie o meter, I think my 2019 would have been 16 mpg.

Probably the reason you're seeing fewer, for 1794, is they are probably fewer numbers built. I would assume the basic issues are common across the platform.

This for sure, Was looking at a 1794 last week and noticed the fender flares have the same bumps from rivets underneath. Also had no auto dimming mirror on passenger. They are probably going to have basically identical issues as they are the same thing with a different color interior

I only come to the forum ever so often - could you please elaborate on the issues you're experiencing? What are the 6-7 issues that have you waiting on parts?

I have a 1794 - 5500 miles - No Check engine lights. No issues needing any warranty work.

I Do notice the issue with the rear window weather stripping being a tad bit too short . i also believe the wireless charger could be better

I am waiting on a TRD Pro - (I will trade or sell the 1794 when it comes in). I am hoping that will be the end of summer.

PM me if you are interested, I would consider letting it go a little sooner. I get updates every week from my salesperson

You could trade it in on a 2021 1794 or Platinum and have zero issues.

The 1794s, underneath the various packages, are the exact same truck. This then raises the question, “are the issues trim-level specific, or are they issues in systems that come in every Tundra?”

Waste-gate, brakes, rear axle, software, window trim and whatever other issues I’m forgetting at the moment—these are not trim level specific. I wouldn’t make an entirely new vehicle transaction for the fear that my current trim level is more prone to issues, especially when those issues do not discriminate between trim levels.

What needs to be accounted for is where the trucks are being built. Are the issues with one manufacturer? Mine was built in San Antonio and with 2700 miles my issues are all cosmetic. badging not on well and a camera on the passenger side mirror being blown off on the HWY. Both are under warranty and have tickets waiting on parts. The camera issue Toyota knows about and has created new assembly. Other than those mine drives well, looks good, and being my 5th Tundra I have to say it’s by far my favorite.
