I bought an older higher mileage tundra. The room is amazing, we went with a 2G instead of a 2.5G. We have two very large dogs, and kids would still fit in car seats with the dogs having enough room on the floor to lay down. It's hard to put a price on that kind of room when you have it.

That being said. The thing is also a boat. And depending on your camping/trail riding, will probably feel like you're driving a boat on the narrower trails. The 5.7 great for all it is, also guzzles the fuel to get to those remote locations.

Sounds like there are some things (camper) that need to be figured out first before you choose which truck to go with. The Taco can tow campers, maybe just not the size you want. Sounds like that decision is going to be one that is going to carry the most impact in your decision.

If the camper is a want and not a need. Keep the Taco. Also 1G Tundra interiors are not going to feel any more roomy than your Taco. I originally wanted a 1G, until I drove one. Brakes sucked and the interior felt as small as my Xterra.

    Good luck.

I have bought multiple Toyotas or Lexus vehicles, and always go for the 100k+ mile mark. Sold my LX at 266k after putting 70k miles on it. Wife just hit 100k miles she has put on her RX, and we bought it for $30k less than new at 90k miles. I wouldn't think twice about buying a Tundra with 100k on it if its got good maintenance records and a clean history. Bought my current Gen 2 at 110k, plan on driving to at least 200k. The $26K price vs a $35k early Gen 2.5 gave me a pile of mod money to spend right off the bat, and at the cost of only about 30k difference in miles.

If the dealer can't get to where you want to be on your trade check with car buying companies and see if they can beat them by enough to erase the sales tax discount advantage. I have had excellent luck twice with these companies. A couple months ago I sold my 2016 Challenger RT to a local one for 2-3K more than I expected to get anywhere from it. If you are good with the price they take your keys, do a few minutes of paperwork, hand you a check and relieve you of your vehicle on the spot.

For anyone curious I ended up trading in my Tacoma for a 2010 crewmax Tundra with 74k miles and have been loving it!

OP, unless you are in the Southern US, sell your Tacoma for the best price, privately or Carmax, etc, then do a fly & drive back from Canada. No better way to acquaint yourself with a new vehicle. Most dealers get a kick out of this and will pick you up at the airport. I've done this with motorcycles and cars for years.
