safe undercoating that will not damage wiring hardness floor plugs etc

I am looking for some feed back from guys that know the brand they used and has had product on truck for 3-4 year to report back how well the rubbers etc are doing.


I am thinking to go with the blaster brand of product on my 2021

 

FluidFilm is what the rust belt guys are using with good results.

 

Any of the "forever" coatings I've seen were rubberized stuff that sealed in moisture and destroyed the vehicle. Look at fluid film, wool wax, etc. that get reapplied once or twice a year.

 

Have had Woolwax on an '05 T4R for 18 months. Have not seen any issues.

 

Krown with good results. Just drips for weeks is the only downfall. So no garage parking or driveway parking for a month in my experience. The blaster brand is surface shield or something. Couldn’t find that anywhere. Been with known for a couple of years. I approve of the product but mention above the drawbacks.

 

In New England. Using NH Oil once a year in the fall. Undercarriage still looks new! 4 yr old 2018.

 

Yup I am aware of the brands and what they can do to help with metal more concerned about plastics,rubber caps wiring loom etc under side

 

I'm in northern Minnesota and use Amsoil MPHD. Has good rust protection, drys to a wax coating making no mess working on undercarriage and lasts a long time.

I use this also, after three New England winters, still looks like brand new underneath. 6 cans every 2-3 years and you're all set. Great stuff.

 

I’m two winters in with Amsoil Heavy Duty Metal Protector. Highly recommended. No problems eating into rubber or plastics underneath.

 

Check out CRC Marine heavy duty corrosion inhibitor. I don’t have 3-4 years of exposure but super pleased with how it held up through this past winter.

I'm not saying it's the best, but fluid film is carnauba wax based. I like it. Certainly won't hurt wires or plastic.

 

Fluid Film does say that it can cause rubber to swell if it's not an oil resistant rubber, but there's no product that isn't going to have some kind of similar warning or disclaimer. It shouldn't hurt anything plastic though, as it is lanolin based.

Northern Ontario- Fluid Film. There might be “better” for much more $ but I don’t see the value unless you’re a collector or something maybe. My truck is going on 9 yo with nothing other than very minor surface rust on the frame/diff (I skipped a couple years), nothing started anywhere on the body panels. No drilling holes or pulling plugs, just surface spraying. I am in no way careful of collateral damage while spraying on plastic, rubber, brake lines etc. No problems, whatsoever. I think it’s only certain non oil resistant rubbers that would be an issue (which wouldn’t make sense for auto parts come to think about it). It has a low flame point so burns off anything quickly when you start her up for a bit. Just like pumpkin spice- smells like Fall!

Yes. Similar to Wool wax. Both are lanolin based.

 

Amsoil has been good. Make sure you apply on the street or a parking lot…overspray on your driveway/garage floor isnt cool.

 

Bought my truck new in 8/19 I’ve used Fluid Film since new for the first 2 winters, everything looks great underneath and last year I used the PB blaster brand and I like it better. I’m in northern Ohio salt city.

There was a video review/test that had pb blaster on top. I don't think you can go wrong with that, or pretty much anything listed here. I think the only rubber that would swell with most is foam rubber.
