The first number of a VIN is the country of Production. In this case 3 is Mexico and 5 is the USA. A lot of different Toyota models start with 5. Second most common is probably J for Japan.

I’m honestly amazed at how many dealerships I’ve seen lately that are taking brand new vehicles off the lot & sending them to local shops to do lifts & interior work.

first ran into it when I was looking at Rams. Found a super nice Ram for $51K, got there to check it out & the sticker price was magically $80K. Found out it was because they worked with some local shop to do a bunch of things to it.

    My questions are:

    1. how/why are manufacturers allowing dealerships to do this?

    2. do dealers really increase their profile margin by doing things absolutely nobody asked them to do?

Personally I think nowadays it’s hard to be super original so to speak. I feel as if when the next model of any car (mainly trucks) come out they usually get criticism for copying the looks or feel or interior component etc. kinda hard not to I feel like when it comes to cabs of trucks. I mean how different can you really get.
