Well, thankfully some of us are willing to pony up and be the guinea pigs. Also, if there's issues based on this being my 5th Toyota product I feel pretty about Toyota making things right. Classic risk/cost/benefit analysis. I don't hate those that disagree.

Just right now, I tried to config a Hybrid 1974 TRD Off Road just for fun

    Screenshot 2022-04-08 6.38.25 PM.jpg

When I tried to add a TRD front skid, it says it'll remove the TRD Off Road package.
??? Isn't that kind of contradicting? What's up with that?

The TRD Off Road package doesn't include the TRD skid plate by the way. The skid plates that come standard with the package are the tin can & fiberglass/plastic ones

I don't believe that the configurator is 100% accurate. This is an accessory anyway so wouldn't be a problem to add, but I get your point - it's odd that this would replace the TRD OR package.

Maybe it's just a problem with the site, most likely

I just wanted to add the skid just for funsies. If I really did get myself a sweet 3rd gen, I'd equip it with RCI steel or even ask BAMF to make a 1/4" steel set :D

Wonder what this 2023 delay for the Pro means for the Sequoia since they are only available as hybrids.

    A bunch
The new skid plates are actually something like a ballistic nylon. Tim (Pickup talk plus SUV) talk with Mike Sweers about it and it's a pretty cool tech for the average buyer who will only hit things like a turkey (they ding up a standard 2007-21 plate pretty well - first hand knowledge of that one) or sandy/muddy ruts. Of course for rocks I'd want more - the nylon flexes so I could see a rock pushing far enough to possible bend the metal components in behind.

Does The optional TRD skid plate offer any catalytic convertor coverage for theft deterrence on the 2022 ?

I don't believe so. I've seen a post here in one of the forums where someone added another skid plate behind this one to cover the cats for theft prevention. Seems like a good idea particularly if you put a lift on which makes it that much easier for the criminals to access them.

Since he has this for a week, it will be interesting to get his MPG impression of the hybrid system.

I was bummed when I climbed underneath my $60,000 truck and saw a black plastic skid plate.
