I have hit the 5000 mile mark with my 22 Tundra SR5 XP 4X4 Crewmax.

    The good:
    <looks amazing
    <rides super smooth and comfortable
    <Plenty of room inside
    <Gas mileage is pretty good
    <Towing is excellent
-Pretty sure I am leaving something out but that's all off the top of the head.

    The not so good:
    >a random blown tire smacked the front of my truck on the interstate and now the whole front end is loose...but...probably easy to get replaced (hopefully)
    >the wind noise inside is pretty bad
    >occasional acceleration lag from dead stop
    >door handles are randomly popping off when opening door (really...like what? lol)
    >randomly still asking for my pin code

Those are the main things in my mind at the moment. Overall, I love the truck. It really is the best one I have owned to this point. Previously had a 2019 F150 (was my 3rd F150), this is my 1st Tundra.

Question - would you buy it again today? If so what would you do different, if that's even possible....
I am waiting for mine, and have high confidence that the boys at Toyota will get all this stuff resolved. My one concern is the stuff like wind noise inside, panels rattling, loose consoles, etc... the little non-technical things that my not get high priority attention

I would. I would get leather interior. That would be the only difference. I actually like the smaller screen better and the SR5 XP trim looks great imo. I have the light gray cloth interior. I would definitely get leather if I had to do it over. Other people have stated the wind noise is no concern for them. Coming from the F150 which had basically 0 wind noise, that is why it sticks out to me. You get used to it though. I am not experiencing any issues with panels or the console thankfully. The door handle deal has definitely caught me by surprise though.

You can get really nice leather seats that would be the equivalent to the leather found in the Platinum trim (some people actually claim it's better than OEM leather) from Katzkin. Even get heated and cooled seats as well added onto it.

    https://katzkin.com

Really great company with great products.

Cons are warranty work as far a tire not really Toyota fault. Can you explain handles falling off? I picture you walking up to car and ripping it off..

    good luck w/ the handles...
my 2011 has zero wind noise, zero rattles and is as tight as day 1. my only issue with a door handle is when my special-needs friend ripped one off ( :muscleflexing:)...

Yeah like literally just grabbed the handle to pull door open and it popped right off with hardly any effort.

$2-$3k installed or more depending on options. Personally if buying a new truck I recommend just getting oem leather/softex seats because it typically comes in an upgrade package. Aftermarket leather seat covers are good if your truck is older, seats are worn or if at the time you ordered your truck you simply passed on leather but now regret it. I've been there. But if you have the option of getting leather/softex now just do oem since it's typically cheaper as part of a package.

Katzkin is a very good option. When we bought my son’s Taco, we really wanted leather over cloth. Due to the lack of available trucks with leather at the time, we went with the dealer installed Katzkin. As mentioned above, they are very nice and lots of options.

Go to personalization. Make sure your phone is detected for your settings, (if not click on your phone, type your pin.)
Choose your Keyfob to detect your profile instead. This problem was haunting me for 2 weeks. This solved it for me.
When I start up my truck, it's almost instantly detecting my settings and not asking for a pin.

Appreciate the information. Interesting on the wind noise. Must be lucky as my truck has virtually no wind noise. Interior is whisper quite. Also, especially when cold, does have significant Turbo lag from stop.

I am very pleased with my Tundra at this point

I work at the dealership, in sales. We have 4 employees with these new trucks, it has worked for each person. I noticed that I needed to make sure my phone was detected. I than selected my key fob to load my profile. I kept my spare key in my backpack, having both fobs in the truck caused an issue but I haven't had any other issues.

On my 2018 Camry I paid $1500 for their Tuscany Leather (which is the equivalent to the semi-aniline leather you'll find on the Capstone) and $600 for the heated and cooled seating option. Was about $2220 after taxes which included installation. If you go with their standard leather I imagine that'll offset the cost a bit and be what you'd expect on the Tundra accounting for the fact that the seats are bigger on the Tundra compared to the Camry.

I've been thinking about this and it's one of two things:

    1. A new anti-theft system developed by Toyota, in which case there should be a Tundra branded fanny pack somewhere in the truck with extra handles in it in case the would-be thief runs off with one...

    or

    2. You haven't broken in your truck yet and it's still a little shy. You should approach it slowly from the front and talk sweetly to it, maybe crack open a can of fresh oil and let it slowly waft over to the truck before you try opening it. Ever so gently, touch the handle while whispering "I love you" over and over. Then, slowly open the door and get in. You'll want to drive slowly for another 5000 miles or so until the truck gets to know you and is broken in. @Fotnot has a video link to this on his OnlyFans page.

Fact-checkers state that @Fotnot never takes it slow, gently, or passionately. He usually leaves the tailpipe bored out, the air intake split mirror to mirror, and the internals rearranged in a way most don't know possible.

The one I test drove had annoying wind noise coming from A pillar area and the side mirrors. It was enough for me to happily hand the keys back to the salesman and be on my way. Acceleration was nice though.

About 2 years ago I had the cloth redone in my 2009 Tundra CrewMax with one color Katzkin... best thing I could have done. Looked like factory, cost about $1800 installed, they even added some padding where needed. You can get 2 color, colored stitching, lots of options.

Anywhere there is cloth, they replace it with leather. On a handful of vehicles, they even do the center console and door panels.

I love my truck so far but interior noise has been a huge issue for me...
Wind noise on the highways above 100km/hr is terrible, even on slow drives if its windy out i can hear it like the window is cracked. Also it seems like everything in my truck rattles over bumps ! I actually took EVERYTHING out of the truck but me and went for a ride to make sure it wasn't just stuff rattling in the console or glove box. The glove box door rattles and can be pushed in 1/2 - 3/4" by hand, the center console lid and sliding lid rattle and make noise over bumps unless i keep my arm on it. I wiped down my dash and in the center between where the tray & speaker are i can push the dash in with my finger by 1/2" or more like there is no support... that also rattles over bumps. Even the rear windows make noise every time you open / close them.
Coming from a '19 RAM Rebel ( mid range model ) this Tundra Limited TRD OR isn't even close in interior comfort and quality...

You should take it to Toyota and have them look at it. You have 1 year from purchase for any squeaks or rattles. My 1794 has zero rattles or squeaks. The wind noise is not noticeable unless your going over 85 mph in my truck.

Ya its definitely going to be part of the discussion during my 1st service visit...like i said i'm enjoying the truck so far but am getting tired of turning up the radio to drown out all of the rattles and squeaks in the cab. I planned on upgrading the wheels and tires but am scared at how much worse it would get with a set of E rated tires under it...

I too experience the acceleration lag from a stop, it is quite dangerous. For me, the truck will start to move forward then lose power briefly. This has happened to me twice with in coming traffic and several other non-lifethreatening occasions.
