so I use the remote start to warm up my truck on cold mornings.
When you open the door the engine usually stops. But on occasion
I open the door and it doesn’t shut off until I depress the brake pedal to put it in drive it turns off and won’t re start.
The brake pedal has a hard feeling and the engine won’t re start.
I try open and closing the locks, I try restarting via the remote, nothing.
But if I hook up my code reader and try and diagnose any codes then, bam
    It starts back up.
    Super frustrating!

My 2016 shuts off when I unlock the door. Is that how yours usually works? Or does it run until you physically pull the door handle?

Sounds like a glitch. I think somebody else had a similar issue on a 2020 or 2021 with a push button. For the life of me I can't remember where I saw it, but I'd tag the dealership to get a record going. Might luck out and find that they have a software update or something that could help.

    This is malfunctioning.

Factory remote start under warranty, go to the dealer and ask them to fix it asap.

Factory remote start is also garbage.

My aftermarket Fortin Evo remote start allows me to open the doors without it shutting off

2nd best mod I did after my AMP Powersteps :)

If anyone in The Colorado western slope needs good service work, well then DONT GO TO BIGHORN MOTORS IN GLENWOOD SPRINGS.
Worst service people ever. 0 stars just lies and warranty claims are ignored

I have a 2021 and this has also happened to me. It's from pushing the lock button too many times while trying to remote start it. You have to wait like 10 minutes and it will be back to normal. The dealership says they cannot reproduce the problems and no codes are showing. The remote start is terrible. The app is terrible. I would like to see if I could replace the remote start with a new after market one but haven't really did any research on it.

I completely agree. The app is so delayed and I hate how the car turns off.

I havent had an issue using the remote but will take note of the issue in case anything arises.

I’ve had this happen to me before and replied to others who have had the same experience. FWIW I have never had it not shut off when I start from the app. Only had troubles when using the fob with the three click and hold method.

One of the only things I miss from my F150s was that they didn’t shut off when I opened the door after remote start. I have read this is maybe a Japanese mfg. choice. Our Odyssey does the same thing with an aftermarket remote start kit. Annoying for sure.
