I'm about to change the gear oil for the first time on my '06 4WD Double Cab. I've dealt with gear oil before on motorcycles.

When refilling after draining, I'm just filling the oil to the threads of the fill port, correct? Essentially putting in as much as you can before it starts spilling out. Right?

Yep. But wait to torque the plug till after you have run it for a few days and then re-checked the level. Then, top it off and torque the plug with a new crush washer

    Roger. Will do.

I filled it up to the threads...

The oil I took out of the rear diff... measured about 2 quarts, of the 3.2 that I put in. Yikes... Also found 2 small flakes buried in the magnetic plug. The flakes weren't sitting on top, so must have happened a while ago. I'm gonna be staying on top of this rear diff now. Haven't done the front of transfer case yet.

Make sure you get the Allen wrench or socket good and seated in the front diff plugs so it doesn't strip out like others have had happen. Fill plug first.

    Fill plug first!

Some of us have had trouble (chatter) with Mobil1 w/LSD in the rear. I now use LucasOil 80w/90 for the rear only

Does anyone know the torque specs for the drain plugs? I read and set them all to 30 ft. lbs... but the front differential drain plug seemed like it should take more than that with a copper washer...

And I don't want to crank down on that thing. I was damn afraid I was gonna strip it out trying to break it loose.

I replaced all washers with brand new ones.

My rear seems fine, but my front two, not so much. The bigger line spins okay, but the thinner line doesn't move well. How do I go about replacing those two?
