Double Cabs only made in Black and Silver?

I want a 4wd double cab SR5 with 6.5 foot bed in magnetic gray with black interior. After trying to make a deposit for a month and receiving various stories, I was caught totally off guard today.

After working for a week with a dealer that told me they could get it, I told them today I would make the deposit with the understanding it could take 2-6 months to get what I wanted.

We exchanged all paperwork via email, and the dealer called to inform me they no longer make double cabs in magnetic gray and the only colors they make them in now are silver and black. He went on to say he had a silver one coming next week I could have if I paid the deposit today.

So, has anyone heard if they are no longer making SR5 double cab 4wd 6.5 beds in anycolor other than black or silver? And they also said they will can't add the convenience package to the SR5 trim levels.

 

I have a 4wd SR DC in white, but I picked it up in Feb. I'm in SET area, but that shouldn't really matter. If anything, SET will be more restrictive.

 

I do not believe this is true. Lastlineofdefense on YouTube just got a double cab in army green

TELL YOUR DEALER HE IS WRONG!

Go to Toyota's website and build one. I just checked.......even though I'm not buying one.
And you can add the convenience packages.

 

SR are the most color limited models, but Mag Grey is one of the options. SR5 have twice the color options. Kinda sounds like they are trying to get you to buy what they have coming now.

 

Welcome to the Forum…sorry your first post has to be a not so positive one but I don’t think any of us believe this to be true

…sounds like a dealer trying to make a sale on a known allocation they have coming in rather than to work with you knowing that it could take some time.

Not sure if you made a deposit (and if it was refundable or not) but if it was me I would personally try to check around with other dealers again (exhausting I know) and tell this one you are going to take your refund and your business elsewhere.

If this relationship starts off on a bad foot there is just no telling how it will progress.

 

This is the biggest pile of steaming bull$hat that I've ever heard. Previously, it was another forum member who's dealer told him that the 3" TRD Lift Kit would not work on an SR trim and that it was only compatible with Limited's & Up.

I have a DC in white. TBH...the majority of DCs that I've seen are white. On top of all that, Toyota let's you build DCs in a variety of colors based on trim. I saw a beautiful DC in Blueprint on FB last night.

You need to find another dealer ASAP. If a potential dealer told me that, I would run away from them as fast as I could to find another place to spend my money. No telling what other lines of BS they're feeding you.

 

Thanks to everyone. That dealer spent a week telling me they would locate it on the assembly line and mark it for their allocation. I called today to make a deposit and let him know I was willing to wait 4-7 months to get what I want, and he said he thought they would find it sooner. An hour later (and before I paid the deposit) it was they only make it in silver and black, and he had a silver one coming next week.

There was another guy coming to look at it, but I made the deposit I could have it. LOL
At least the other guy is getting what he wants.

I posted there first because I could not get an account open here. Finally I got the confirmation email to come through so I could post here where I wanted to originally. And they did not answer my question.

No, it did not. LOL. But I discovered something I did not know existed. If you put in a Mississippi zip code on toyota.com, you are very limited on what you can order. I can't get a convenience package on an SR5 when I put in a MS zip code. There is no option for a TRD package. If I put in a New York or Nashville, TN zip code, there are a lot more available options/packages to select. I thought it all came from the same plant in Texas.

 

I wonder if Toyota tries to track where their vehicles go to to try and spread the wealth and not have too many of one style of truck to one area? Doesn't really make sense to me to have certain options not available in certain areas.

 

Another Bass Boat Central member here as well, seen the thread figured dealer was full of it.

 

It's strange how the regions work. I'm in Arkansas but only 65 miles from Springfield, MO our town has a Toyota dealership but I bought two from Missouri and when trying to build online noticed the regional differences. For example in AR they can get the TSS appearance package but MO cannot in 2017 the FFV engines were an option in AR but the non-FFV was not offered in MO.

 

I have a MGM DC 4x4 TRD OR on order and my Dealer told me that once they receive their monthly allocation book, they can wheel and deal on allocations. For example if they are allocated some type of DC, they can arrange to have it replaced/upgraded to what their customer(s) have ordered.
Don't know if I'm 100% buying into that or not, but the sales mgr is my friend so i don't think he would fib... he is also selling me some ocean front property in AZ...

Dealers suck. Sounds like yours is wanting to move the inventory they ordered in silver and black only.
