    Hello,

I'm new to the group, happy to be here and learn a lot, planning on buying a tundra here this summer. I have some questions...

I have a 6000lb wake boat with about a 650lb tongue weight that I travel with all summer.

With those numbers in mind, is it worth getting the air ride suspension, would it sag a lot without air ride?

At highway speeds, does the air ride correct itself and maintain a neutral ride? I've heard it goes back to neutral at 18mph, but was wondering if it would take the tongue weight into consideration with it going to the neutral spot?

Is it possible to get an allocation with just air ride suspension and not all the other bells and whistles they throw in on the build it page?

    Thank you!!

I have a weigh distribution hitch for my travel trailer(5500lbs) . No air shocks\system on my 2017 Crewmax and it works great no sagging. Have you seen these? Or do you prefer the air system?

From what I understand is if you can build it then theoretically it is possible. However very doubtful. I have not see any allocation on my area that did not include a few package options with the airbags. WD hitch setup is the way to go as TFT mentioned.

Air ride does has nothing to do with WDH.
It works so much better than I thought it would. Where it comes in really handy is with weight in the bed and it auto levels. I just had about 650 pounds of a motorcycle with gear on back of mine with tail gate down and it measured same as empty ground to center of rear tire. And I did nothing to make it level out.
** just to note, my 19 in no way sat as level or drove as well with that weight in the bed.

WDH is likely not an option for the OP as most boat trailers use hydraulic surge brakes.

My understanding is that the air ride would benefit him as the truck air ride level sensor would detect the drop and adjust it back to proper truck level. The after 18mph is for the manual overrides being done from the dash (to temporarily override the rear level sensor).

You will probably want to adjust the ride height from factory. Factory set is too close to bump stops, but position switch can easily be adjusted. Once set, it adjusts to maintain same level regardless of load.

I suspect you would only see 2 inches of sag at most. I would think these trucks are running 500+ in-lb springs in the rear

What difference does the type of brakes the trailer has matter to the use of a WDH (Weight Distribution Hitch)?

Hydraulic surge brakes rely on the tongue, right behind the coupler, to slide forward which activates the hydraulic cylinder for the trailer brake pressure. The vast majority of WDHs interfere with that and aren't compatible. Granted, there are one or two on the market if he really wanted to go that route.

If still looking at the WDH approach, also keep in mind considerations for the physical mounting of the WDH hardware on the trailer tongue as the hydraulic brake hardware (and fold-away tongue if you have that also) may take up that space.

Between the brakes, fold-away tongue, and boarding ladder brackets, ours is definitely a no-go.

Anyone know if the air leveling suspension is a full air spring that replaces the coil, or still some kind of coil with bags to help out?

It's an air spring that replaces the coil.

Rear only. Front is still a coil spring strut setup.

Thanks. That's what I figured. So much more versatile option to go stock and be able to put your own coils/shocks in of whatever size you need and then an aftermarket bag setup when they start hitting the market.
