Hey all, "new" Tundra owner here! In this crazy car market, I was able to find a clean 2010 Double Cab SR5 4x4 for a pretty good deal. I'm upgrading (aka sold) from a 1996 F-250 4x4. Hoping to have just as much for for less annual cost (maintenance wise). :)

Welcome, from OKC! Not so sure you upgraded, I loved my mid 90's Fords. If I had time to build one now, my Tundra would be gone really fast!

Loved the F250, but didn't love all the $$$ it was costing me. It's my third vehicle, so doesn't get but about 1k a year (the Tundra will likely get more miles), but it was also costing me about $1k a year in maintenance and repairs!!

With my Tundra base cost and enough mods to make it pretty capable, I'm closing in on 68k. So, I would be really happy to spend 3k per year on a truck I really like. Just my .02. Anyway, good luck! Hope it works out for you!!

    Welcome.
    Congrats.
You got yourself a great truck.

Maintenance costs? It don't get "much gooder than this"!!!!

Our first tundra, my dad's 2007 DC limited 5.7. Which we bought new.

My dad ran up to 225k miles. He did 4 oil changes total.
He would just top of oil.
He never serviced anything else. Not even spark plugs. No coolant flush. No brake flush. No trans service. No diff fluid change.

He drives exactly at the speed limit.

And the tundra took it. In 12 years of ownership, and 225k of 0 service. It never broke down.

And then we got a 2019 new. And the old one drove better. It felt stronger.

The new tundra, I do all the maintenance. Not leaving up to my dad. This one I'm gong to take care of.
    It will last forever.

You got a great new truck(new to you).
    I'm predicting you'll love it.
    And you'll never look back.

I ended up changing every fluid, spark plugs, made sure trans was topped off, which it was. I changed all the brakes. Serpentine belt. And detailed it.

It sold for $13k on Craigslist the first day.

And after the service, It drove better than the new one.

These things are built to last and treat us great. With modest service bills.

Welcome and greetings from Minnesota. Maintenance on my 2000 4RUNNER was about as minimal as it gets. In 164,500 miles - 2 regular scheduled timing belt changes. Oil changes every 10,000 miles (highway driven) changed all fluids to full synthetic, and new plugs at 100,000 miles. I put on new tires every 60,000 miles or so and I’m on my 3rd battery. The only thing that needed replacement was a starter at 164,000 miles. I kept my 4RUNNER when I bought my new 2021 Tundra. It still looks and runs great. You will be pleased with the reliability of your new Tundra.

I had that exact truck but regular cab. Thing was amazing and still a bummer that I totaled it. As far as maintenance goes it all depends on how you want it to last. If you want to keep it forever then maintain the hell out of it. Diff Fluids, Transfer case fluid, ATF, obviously oil changes every 5k. Clean washer fluid tank, coolant tank. (depending on how they look) Tundras are pretty simple trucks and the maintenance is pretty straight forward (atleast until the 2022 came out, I know nothing about those.) Also curious about your mileage and how good your deal was if you don't mind sharing. Prices are HIGH right now so even if you overpaid a bit that's still a GREAT find. Congrats and welcome!
