2010 Tundra. Driving a little faster than i should have been down a rutted out dirt road my traction control light on the dash was light up solid. I shut off the truck to see if it would clear as i was heading to some mild off-road (we'll call it Mud puddle splashing).

Anyway, the light came on and wouldn't shut off. AFter getting back on pavement she cleared up pretty quickly.

When the light was lit, I could not turn off the LSD or the Traction control (makes sense i guess if the sensors were throwing an issue).

Anybody have this happen and have a good way to keep that light off. Going fast over potholes shouldn't really trick the sensors too much.

(This happened a few years back on a off-ramp where it was raining and may have been going around 45 instead of 35). Light stayed on until i shut truck off. Then it cleared.

yesterday it would not clear, 2wd, 4WD, 4WD Low. I tried them all and the light stayed solid.

    Thanks guys.

Nobody has had this issue huh? I was wondering if maybe i needed to a do a zero point calibration or something.
Or if anybody had this light stay on before and what they did to clear it? Minus driving on pavement. (i've had similar issue on ice in the driveway or running the truck in gear with the rear on jack stands that tricks the sensors.

    Thanks for anybody's thoughts.

So I had the same issue happen twice now. First time the dealership tech said it was a speed sensor and sent me on my way. Second time it only stayed on for a few minutes then cleared after restarting.

Read the OBD code (you can get a cheap reader from Amazon). Same happened to me when I broke a wheel speed sensor. I fixed it myself in maybe 20 minutes, which means it's really simple, because I don't know WTH I'm doing at all.

I have an OBD reader. Just didn't think it would read the traction control light as i know there are much more expensive units for ABS and such sensors. The light cleared so i think that rules out a sensor issue?

Perhaps a loose wire, but i hit plenty of potholes, etc here in southern maine and haven't had an issue since.

Thanks for your input though. Seems nobody but me has ever had this issue.

Without knowing the code it's pretty difficult to say what's going on. You may be throwing a code for implausibility if the rear wheels are spinning like crazy and the front wheels are not, and that may self clear once you're back on the pavement.
