Ran some errands this morning and my wife noticed the door edge guard coming off her door. Since I was only 2 minutes away from the dealer I thought I would stop in and get them to order a new one since it’s under warranty. No problem with that, but… then I see this on my driver seat. They got the ink out but ruined the seat bottom in the process. Now they have the door edge guard and a seat bottom ordered. Should be 4-5 day lead time. I’m not happy about this but I’m sure it wasn’t done intentionally.
Since it is a limited it has power and heated seats.
Should I worry about the dealership handling this repair? I don’t want them to screw something up.

Depends on the dealership and the technician doing the work. Check it over very well before leaving.

Wife took her G37 in for a repair on the convertible top - we noticed something had come loose in the rear section of the headliner that appeared to be part of the fold down process. Her car has leather snap loops on the seat shoulder to secure the seatbelts (and unsnap to release the belt for any unfortunate soul that needs to ride in the back seat). They managed to rip the snap out of the leather seat when trying to access the back. First they argued they didn't do it, then agreed to replace the seat cover.

When we went to pick it up, after the service writer supposedly "double checked to be sure" everything was right, the power seat wouldn't work. I got out, started poking around, and there were trim pieces to the seat laying unsecured in the rear footwell! The seat wouldn't move because they didn't reattach the wiring plug.

That was a Saturday, and they would need to keep the car until Monday because they only had lube techs on staff. Fine. Except they tried to to claim they couldn't release a loaner on a Saturday (the same one we had for the previous several days and had just driven back to pick up our "completed" car). We had a "spirited" discussion with the manager and got the loaner back. They did finally get it fixed right, and we've not had any issues with the seat or the new cover since, but what an absolute, un-necessary shit-show.

Hope your experience is better than ours was.

Replacing that cover is a fairly easy job.
The seat heaters and power don't make it any harder..

If your that concerned, take the parts and do it yourself, if they will do that.
You'll need hog rings and hog ring pliers.
I would recline the seat a little before you disconnect everything.

    Disconnect the battery.
Disconnect the connectors under the seat, the yellow airbag connector is a little tricky.
    Pull the seat out.
    Remove the plastic trim.
You'll see how the cover is attached, remove the cover and replace it.
Really not that much to it.

Watch a few seat heater install videos.
It will at least let you know what you'd be getting into as far as removing the cover.

I think I’ll let them do it but ask to have a tech that knows what he is doing.

I can't believe they couldn't get the ink out without ruining the leather, they should have just had to go to a professional detailer and bring them the bill.

What ever they did, they scrubbed it so hard it discolored it and took the texture away

Honestly, shouldn't even have required that. Tech @ our dealership did the same thing to my wife's seats; they pulled out some solution or other (I forget what it was) but the seat was cleaned like 2 minutes later, no issues.

Depends on the ink, but cheap hairspray normally works.

That's good to know for any future issues that may happen.

Ah! Yes, that was it. It took them like 2 minutes with that stuff. Worked like a charm. :)

So frustrating that this could have been avoided in many ways. Hopefully I can put this past me after this weekend.

Took the truck in this morning and everything looks great. In fact, I think the seat texture is better than it was from factory.
