What is the general consensus on tire rotation? I have done the X pattern on all my previous vehicles every 5000 miles. The manual for my truck says to only switch the front with the rears, that is what I have done since new. About 4000 miles ago I picked up a set of 18 inch TRD wheels with the Michelin tires, want to make sure I get the most out of them. Appreciate your responses.

I stopped the x rotation years ago. I just do front to back, back to front. I have not noticed any tread life difference in all honesty and that’s been with various different vehicles.

Front to back rotation is what I’ve done per last few vehicle service manual recommendations. Should be fine to X pattern as well with modern radial tires. Old bias plys would sometimes bunch up when rotation direction was changed.

I've seen people swap DR with PR, but I just do fronts to rears.

Radial tires are front to back, Bias ply tires are the x rotation. Been that way since radial tires hit the market in 1946

I’ve always done an X pattern but reading these comments is going to make my next rotation a bit easier!

Thanks for the responses. All our cars of late show X pattern, including 2020 Acura RDX, but I saw the front to back only in the Tundra manual.
