Hello all, I noticed some surface rust on one of the brackets at the rear of the truck. Looks like the hardware Toyota used to mount it has rusted over this past New England winter. I am going to remove the bracket and replace the hardware with stainless. I will most likely wire wheel the surface rust off then coat it in something to prevent it from re-occurring. I am just wondering what this bracket is called? It’s just in front of the driver side rear wheel well.

That was one option, I just can’t seem to find the bracket online. No idea what it’s actually called. I have tried exploded parts views and can’t find it.

Had some free time today so took care of this. Removed the bracket, it is a 2 piece with the top piece acting as a clamp. Wire wheeled all the rust off, clear coated it and installed with new stainless hardware. See pics attached:

I had an exhaust pipe hanger on my truck for some reason rusted. everything else perfect, could see it from wheel well. looked like crap. sprayed some liquid film on it and it no longer looks rusted been in tons of rain and dirt and as far as I am concerned arrested all corrosion. about 3 seconds to spray it on.

Seems Toyota uses some very cheap quality uncoated nuts and bolts on the underside of these trucks. After the 1st winter and some look like they are 10 yrs old already..Not cool. I try to spray Fluid Film on all i can access
