I'd love to see this test. The F250 7.3 gasser is a lot of truck for sure. But between it and the 2nd gen Tundra, the drivetrain component with the most common issues seems to be the Ford's 10speed. The 5.7/6speed/4.30 rear end has almost zero issues ever, even when pushed beyond the Tundra's stated limits. This would be a great test–do you really need an HD truck if pulling the Tundra's max load?

haha, you actually think towing 10klbs(over rating) on a 2.5gen for 30 mins is going to do anything to it? I've towed 18klbs w/ a wdh and haven't had any issues with the drivetrain. Never heard of a Toyota engine or transmission blowing up before, but have seen plenty of FORDs.

As mentioned above, FORD's 10-speed transmission is so bad that GM abandoned their partnership with FORD and went back to their 8-speed.

Another test we could try is a tug of war.

The Tundra will be allowed to carry additional payload so that it's actual weight will be closer to the F350 SRW 7.3 gas's curb weight.

The tug of war will not be won by who is able to pull the other by a certain distance, but it will be determined by whose powertrain completely shits itself first.

This is probably the best head to head towing/pulling test you can get. We would be able to find out the relative durability between a HD 1 ton SRW gas vs a Tundra 1/2 ton powertrain/drivetrain real quick.
