What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

I pulled up my old order for the rack and pinion, and this was the part number:

I think the second one down is the whole rack and pinion, first one is the housing (this is for the Sequoia)

 

The part I was looking at that I said was under $360 is this part: 44240-0C021, it's the actual housing used for both early rack 44250-0C010 ($363) and later rack 44250-0C030 ($671).

edit: There's also another complete rack number that is 44250-0C041 ($380).

 

Well, vise grips did not do the trick on the broken bolts. Guess I will have to leave her in the field with a ripped up dress and all bloody this week while on vacation. Probably just Dremel the end off and drill that hooker out. Every single job I have done on this thing has given me hell. Went ahead and ordered a few hundred dollars of crap I "needed" from Serra.

 

What's the difference in all these? Does it come with outer tie rods and the bushing too or something? What I got was complete other than that

 

Smack it with a hammer. Not hard enough to hurt the casting, just to pit some wiggle in the threads.

penetrating oil helps, too.

I believe 44240-0C021 is just the housing without inner tie rods and the power steering gear. The part you ordered, 44250-0C010, includes the housing with inner tie rods etc.

 

Yessir, It's soaking. She can wait for me just like that for acting up.

I'm so ham fisted and short tempered, I have the ability to turn this into a real problem. mom always told me I should count ten.

 

My dad and grandpa were shift workers, so they get themselves in a hurry (for no reason) and make things way harder than they need to be. Ive never had a problem walking away and letting it stew. And everything just seems to be so easy after a smoke break or a beer or several.

 

San Antonio area, got a nice vrbo. Sea World and such. Leaving the Raptor in College Station for this one, no way in hell it wouldn't get boosted.

 

Yeah, that's what I've learned over the years. A little break usually fixes the problem. Sometimes I just start working on something different and come back to what was stumping me. I knew better than to start this today, but felt like it would never get done if I waited for the perfect time.

 

In other news, emailed Eric F at Serra about the hardware I need to bolt up the running boards I ordered. He was fast to respond, first time I have stumped him. He said he fired an email to Toyota HQ, and will get back with me.

 

That center bracket looks completely different from mine. Odd are, you'll be dabbing up some mounts. Stumped @Roman too. He said they were discontinued once he finally found em

 

I broke many a bolts working on shit with my dad, a pos ford ranger sxt package.
It’s nice at work though, I will roll with one or two other cats that know their stuff just as well as I do, but we all roll just to help out and be there for moral support. Some of us are also built different than others, so one area of work might require one guy, over another, hahah a lot of that comes to height, we have 2 shorties that always need assistance. There are even some overhead activities we do, that it’s just the right height to mess with how I stand on the ladder, but perfect for them. I also have fat hands, so sometimes my meat paws can’t do stuff in weird places, but if they get it loose or whatever, I always make sure to let them know I loosened it before they got up there.

 

That's been par for the course on this thing. I'll take it over to my flip flop wearing buddies house if it needs fab work.

drove it today. it seems to be a pretty consistent thing now.. so i will say, the headers somehow have lead to my engine running 7 degrees cooler. it does not go past 177 degrees now. use to be 184

 

I ordered these from a junkyard in South Dakota of all places. I have not called on the TRD exhaust yet, plan on doing it when I get back home. Anybody have the skid roe discount code handy?

 

That worked! Just ordered the transmission skid and cat shields, a little over 400 all in. I hear about cats being stolen weekly, seems worth it.

4-6 week lead time though

 

I got my transfer skids right away, but they're a few weeks out on the cat gaurds and trans skids FYI.

 

I think I have mine but not sure. I have 4 boxes received so far, haven't opened them.

 

Don't be skeered to throw some heat on the post also! Then cool it down by throwing some PB blaster on it. The cooling action will wick the PBB down into the threads.

You may try to reach out to the place you got them and see if they can pull the bits off. Surely they must still be on the donor?

I was always warned about this - to always get the hardware. Else you'll spend as much on the hardware as you did on the steps.
