SDHQ Hidden Bedside Support

Has anyone installed the SDHQ HBS with an Amp Research step? I purchased the SDHQ setup and got all the way to the last step and realized the two use the same bolts/spot on the hitch/frame. SDHQ has said they're not aware of any issues with the two, but their support bracket is cutting into the step and they expect me to move the step bracket out farther. If anyone has done the install on both of these, any help would be appreciated.
