I found a 2010 Tundra to purchase that is exactely everything I have been looking for (4WD, lifted, camper shell, ect.); however, even though it looks like it’s in great condition inside and out I did notice that there is rust underneath on the frame in the running boards. This truck lived its first 10 years in the Reno in Truckee area of northern California so it did see snow. This is a one owner truck, and I do Believe the seller took good care of it.
    Should I be concerned?

To me it looks like surface rust and not a big deal. I would probably getting some rust inhibiter or something to keep it from getting worse, but from those pictures, it wouldn't scare me. I keep my frame sprayed with fluid film and it prevents that.

Almost looked like my 2010 4x4 Crewmax when I bought it used. My truck was in Oregon and northern California according to Carfax Report. Although the previous owner had sprayed the frame with Fluid Film, some parts have surface rust. So When I got the truck I resprayed again with Fluid Film on axle and surrounding areas, frame, lower control arms, etc. No rust on bed floor. No problem.

Where are you living in SC close to the ocean?

Anyways OP that rust is not bad at all. If the price is right get it. And clean up the rust and keep it for a long time.

Charleston, so on the water. Definitely got some light rust from driving thru salt water during hurricane season

OP, buy a wire brush for your drill and a can of rustoleum industrial spray paint (black paint, silver can). If you’re really bored, throw some primer too.

    Thanks for the input.
I spoke to a body shop this morning that said that this could also be from launching a boat often. The seller did say that this is what he used to launch his boat. That would explain the worse rust in the back.
