I just installed most of the gen 2 Hewitt bypass kit for my 2007 5.7 tundra. I’m having trouble installing the block off plates since my bolts are rusted. How important is it to have the block off plates? I’d appreciate any input.

I think thats is the requirement to get the full kit to work as it should. WD40 those suckers or if not heat them to get them out.. but make sure u do not break them..

Bar none the best penatrant I've ever used. Friends and I have been known to refer to it as "the hand of God".

Which codes did you have? Run it without the block offs and see what happens

It seems like I remembered reading somewhere on the forum that if the valve is stuck open you need the plates. If the valve is ok or stuck closed then the plates are not needed.

If you don’t know, I would just do what FrenchToasty said and try it without the plates and see what happens. The added benefit would be if you get the manifold hot it might make the bolts easier to break loose.
