Did mythbusters cover that one and did it do anything to the vehicle?

Seen it done irl, and seen the results.

Full fuel system replacement and engine flush and several oil changes.
Several thousand dollars in costs if you catch it in time, otherwise, blown motor, new car.

Sugar doesn't mix with gas; you need to put in the "brine" of sugars....fructose from a soda drink.

A bottle of mountain dew should wreak havoc.

Can the RCI tank skid be modded with additional plates to close it off? I haven't seen how much the RCI covers.

Another reason for zero deductible on comprehensive. Check into it folks, very little difference in premiums.

@Jim LE 1301 posted it. the part number is 10504.
I have a 2016. Search for Stant locking gas cap on Amazon. Looks like prices gone up to $18. I think I paid $12.

Yep! I have one, it does about every third drive cycle. Scan guage 2 takes care of that with the push of a few buttons.

Has anyone installed a locking fuel door on their truck with flares? I'm thinking it won't fit.

Depends on the flares. I have both on my truck.
Edit: the locking fuel door is pretty useless for security, a simple pry tool slightly stronger than an ink pen will pop the hinges.

Try to siphon or pump out through the filler neck. It’s not easy. If I were going to drain my tank I’d use the pump (which is not easy for a thief) or drill a hole in the plastic tank (easy, more efficient, and you’ll get more fuel out). Bottom line I won’t bother with a locking cap.

I also don’t have a locking cap on my work truck or in bed transfer tank. If someone is determined enough to steal it they’ll figure out a way. I’d rather just refill the tank than have to buy a new one because it got destroyed.

I helped an older fella remove his frozen locking gas cap this winter. I made a not to never own a locking gas cap.

I remember when diesel hit 5.00 a gallon in 2007 (?). I replaced so many tanks it was ridiculous. Most had some kind of locking cap/door.

I've run a locking gas cap off and on for years, and on different vehicles. The gas crisis in the 70's, A gas thief in the 80's (I put the locking cap on my pickup, but the thief wasn't deterred. He simply siphoned from my wife's car. It turned out it was the kid across the street and his little Mustang didn't run well on the diesel from my wife's car), I put a locking cap on the Tundra during COVID when many were out of work, and now with prices jumping I'll leave it there . As has been said, it won't stop the pro, but it'll make the amateur move on to an easier target. It's a Stant 10504 and there have been no Check Engine Light problems so far.

Well, after doing an extensive search (limited to my lunch break) I decided on CarID's RBP locking lid. 10% vet discount. Thanks for the info y'all.

Spoke to a buddy of mine who had a 'shady past' and he mentioned he'd cut a cross slit into the rubber fill hose and siphon gas that way. He mentioned a deterrent for that would be some aluminized flex pipe at the local parts store. Think I'll do that this weekend.

Yes, they can still drill the tank and pry the door but the longer they have to spend getting anything from me, the better the chance they get caught.

    I would think flat/matte black.
I tried to buy one about 6 months ago and couldn't find one in stock anywhere..
I'd rather have one like @Jim LE 1301 has that doesn't have the RPB 'R' and star on it like the pic above.
He has an MGM and his matte black looks good.
