Need a TRD base tune for SC, who can do it ? Im in Socal

Found a TRD supercharger, All I need is the base Sc tune , toyota dealer really not interested in helping me out, any ideas?

Fuck the trd tune, get hp tuners or something else. The trd tune is pretty awful, and a good tune isn't much extra money.

 

I hear yah , just need it 50 state legal stuck in CAlifornia,for a while, so hptuners will work straight from stock ecu, will it be carb compliant?

Sorry couldnt help myself. On a serious note, im not100% certain but i think OVtune might be able to help you and i want to say there is an "on the shelf" tune that works with supercharged tundras like bullydog. But im sure someone can chime in or just search for these suggestions. Good luck

 

Ok yah heard something about ovtune hopefully that is the work around , and the sc package comes witj bullydog as well

 

I'm not sure how carb compliance works, let alone all the California specifics. So you have a few options to get the TRD tune: dealership, someone with the hardware to flash the TRD tune from techstream, or a tuning company might be able to supply the TRD tune as a base file (I think VFT did this for me, and I know HPT has access to the files or you could find them through their forum). An aftermarket tuner will also allow you to flash back to your stock tune so you could do smog (assuming it would pass with the stock tune?). So there's a few options/paths that are plausible... Since California is banning tunes in general (I thought) I think you'd be better off going with an aftermarket tuner in general and getting a good tune, and if that doesn't pass smog then go home and flash the stock tune back and repeat. With that said, I don't live in a smog area so have never paid attention to how tunes affected the smog/carb process.

I would do some research. VFT (originally OV Tune) has some... questionable history and service. One man show with a huge customer base, and goes about how you'd expect.

Are you gas only or flex fuel?

 

I would not recommend OV/VF tune.

I don't know of one person who has used them for SC Tundra tunes and not been frustrated waiting extended times for a product at best, or one that never came or was never fully delivered.

He stopped offering the tunes and started selling a "tuner" that you would have to do yourself because he was spread so thin. My advice is read up on the threads here and other forums like Tacoma first.

I got lucky and OVT has treated me well...When I got it back in early 2019, everything has worked perectly...as far as waiting, yeah, it sucks but right now, if it ain't broken, not gonna "fix" it...
