You guys considering a gmc..do you know of the lifter issues going on witj them?

Gmc in my opinion is the finest looking vechile in the market but I've been reading about engine failure and can't consider them

I was seriously considering going to a F150, or even F250, Platinum, to replace my 2007 Tundra. Test drove both, I drive an F150 at work and it is very nice. Decided in the end to dump a few thousand bucks into my 2007. For the cost of the sales tax on a new truck I'm in love all over again with my V8. I will keep using my truck like a truck.

Regular unleaded just hit 5.47/g in Humboldt County CA but the 70k I saved will pay for LOTS of gas or repairs if needed. Couldn't be happier with my decision.

Yeah, there are recurring drivetrain issues. https://www.tahoeyukonforum.com/forums/engine-drivetrain.151/

Ford 3.5l TTV6 also has recurring issues with cam phasers and the transmission.

Insurance and registration costs weigh in for me also. And looking at fuelly.com I'm not seeing huge MPG differences between GM V8's, Ford TTV6, Nissan V8, and the old reliable Toyota 5.7l. Time will tell if the F150 Powerboost and Toyota hybrid will get superduper MPG and reliability to offset the buyin cost and insurance/registration.

I'm with ya, bud. I'll never buy new again. Finding a good one used with some warranty left on it though can be a long tedious process.

Except when after 3 years we are in a situation where you can make thousands on what you paid new including the tax, and in Canada they sell at MSRP. But no one has any vehicles without long months of waiting. The vehicles with any warranty remaining are selling at new prices so it makes no sense to me.

So all these engines are within the 15-16 mpg range real world mileage. Interesting.

Eh. I get 16-17 mpg in my f150 city driving and 22 highway.

In my TRD pro I got 10.8 city and 16 highway.

Is the F150 the 3.5L or 2.7L? Your TRD pro MPG is why I never upgraded from my Tacoma to a Tundra. Scary bad MPG.

Unless your vehicle, if you use it for work and play - is pulling at least 7.5 Liters/100kms (30+ mpg) like my wifes outback..... its not going to matter soon anyway.

    5.0 v8.

To be fair I drove the TRD pro hard. It was fun and sounded fun. Not the same thrill with the coyote so it isn't driven as hard.

His videos are fun and I learned alot.
    Impressive.
Especially for you payload guys, it has an onboard scale and it adjusts miles range based on how much payload you are carrying.

they wouldn’t let me take it home or out for anything of an extended test . I guess only a lap around the block , which isn’t going to work for me.

They said they didn’t want me gone for 2 hours , which is what I would have needed in total time since they might have people come in. I get it but , I said I don’t count ? I bought my platinum from you and you do all my service on both my vehicles. They said no dice, maybe try back on a Monday or something and maybe they would let me take it then.

Very different than the ford dealer , they just threw me the keys and said have fun

I have to get it home for a fit test to rule it in or out for starters , then if I like it , it’s when to pull the trigger with all this qc stuff going on

they "authorities" can find out every keystroke you take on your cell phone if they want.
they "supplier" that make todays automobile computers know every time you touch the gas or brake pedal.
......if ever they were allowed to release this info.

too bad. the only Gen 3 reviews that hold weight with me come from Tundra owners.
I will be going in for an oil change next month probably.
If there is one there I will ask to take it out and put this whole thing to bed ...or not 8^0.
As long as there is a $$$$ carrot dangling in front of me for my trade in.

You're not wrong there. Still stupid and pointless for anyone needing a truck for actual truck stuff outside of a major city in a warm climate.

Lol. 16 isn’t scary when the alternative is 22. I don’t think that would make a big difference in your monthly bills unless you’re driving a ton of miles. Even at today’s prices, my 16-17 highway is worth not having to deal with any issues. The way I see it, I can spend a little more money to keep more of my time. ;)

Ya it would be super tight if at all. I may have to get the ford simply for that

I think to have any chance I’ll have to cut that lower metal support off the door to buy a few inches.

I may see if they will let me try it this week , we’ll see

Seems to be pretty common with Toyota. When I bought my Tundra, the salesman had to come with us on my 2 hour test drive. When I was at the GM dealership kicking tires, the guy tried to force me to take a truck home overnight even though I told him there was 0 chance I was buying one.
