Went for my 5000 mile service today. In addition to the steering recall there is also a dealer only factory update to the electronic system. I believe it’s only 20-21 but I may be wrong. No other info from me..

Technical Service Bulletin (TSB)? NOT the same as a recall.

I have nothing, dropped truck off, they called and stated they had to do 2 recalls. By the time it was ready I was 3 Beam and cokes in. Just trying to give a half-ass heads up.

Sure. It is in the truck at the moment, but I will get a picture tomorrow and post it.

It's a DCM update... takes like 15 mins, I've done a pile of them this week on Tundra and Highlanders mostly.

So for this DCM update, is this for the Toyota Care service thing? If you don't use or activate it, does the update still have to be done? Please explain in simple terms what this is for....thanks.

I think it is for safety connect, the SOS button service, but I'll have to look into it more.

Thanks. Sounds like we don't need to worry about it if we aren't subscribed to the service.

I'm using my recall letter that doesn't apply as an excuse to go look at trucks/SUV's while mine is getting looked at...

Does your dealer actually have any new vehicles? Mine doesn’t have hardly any.

So to clarify, if I'm *NOT* affected, I should:

    - call the dealer immediately
    - open up another recall post on Tundras.com
    - tag @Terndrerrr on the thread

    Amirite?

If you cared about your truck you’d already be bellied under the beast with a flashlight, scowling up at the parts trying to ID the steering assembly.

That’s what the REST of us did when we got the letter….

No clue, really. Hopefully there will be something there to take a gander at. to I try to avoid going to that side of town...traffic is horrible. But, there's also a decent cigar shop close by so there's that.

Did that right away :D I did call the dealership and basically said “This appears to say I’m good but I figured I’d check.”

Dealership said “Yeah…we’re getting tons of calls about this.” LOL

I care about my truck, but I didn’t get under it to ID the steering rack because I knew mine wasn’t produced between Aug-Oct 21 as the recall states.

When I got my letter, I READ it to determine I wasn’t affected.
