My problem is I cannot make it down to see it. Work and baby and life stuff keeps getting in the way. They will drive it to me an hour and a half away if I buy it. I also don’t know if I’d know enough and what to look for if the truck ha s been abused.

Doesn't sound like a good deal to me.

But the market has changed and I don't really see prices going back down anytime soon. So if you're wanting/needing a Tundra, I doubt you find a better deal. Other than maybe by $1k. And is that $1k in savings worth the hassle of searching and test driving for the next month? That's your call to make.

To me there too many unknowns on the 2018 to pay that much. I would also see what I could negotiate for a 2018-2021 with less mileage.

They also offer a 60k warranty for 4300. Seems like a lot but would cover pretty much everything with that warranty.

My man, seems to me like your getting sucked even further into a trap. Think thrice before you proceed.

Don't buy a warranty in these times. You'll could be waiting month(s) lead time if they are busy for warranty work. You want the flexibility to shop around if you need anything fixed.

With the how fast gas prices are climbing I expect the hard on gas trucks to be in less demand soon.

DO NOT pay $4300 for any warranty!!!

That is a huge red flag that you're dealing with animals and not people!

I’m not. I was sketched out by the price when they told me. I think I’m gonna pass on this deal and go newer just for peace of mind.

As a numbers guy I am curious what most people here would pay for this truck out the door after a 6 percent maryland tax if it had no issues readily apparent and the current mileage.

Just a comment when buying used. I always get the VIN and go to Toyota’s website and enter the vehicle as one of my vehicles under the owners tab. Check all the Toyota service records that way and the factory specs and port/dealer options are also there too. One time I found a 4Runner where the Toyota shop recommended a new engine…of course, this wasn’t mentioned in the sales listing. Best of Luck!

I expect a lot of people to trade in a lot of these gas guzzlers in the next few weeks. I also expect gas prices to rise another 20% or so.

Seems logical but I wouldn’t count on it. Not sure where the point of diminishing returns lies, but most who bought a Tundra certainly didn’t do it with fuel economy as the primary reasoning.

True there are a lot that will stick with what they have. I also think a lot of people will trade in a gen 2 for a gen 3.

Look in the 3rd gen forum at all the 2021 owners ditching it for a 22. MPG is one of the big reasons they tout.

New 3rd gen MPG ain't that good and financially it probably made 0 sense for most. But they did it anyway.

Watch the market in a few weeks when 5 dollars a gallon is everywhere.

After reading this and your other thread on this topic, you are NOT a numbers guy.
The fact you even CONSIDERED a 60K warranty for $4300 proves that.
They saw you coming, I hope you passed on the deal..

You may be right. Guess we’ll see how long and far this high gas pricing goes on. It went up $0.30 per gallon over night. The wife drives a Prius, so worse comes to worse I’ll park the ‘98 Taco and have her drive me to/from work! I already park the Tundra most of the time. Starting to feel more and more like the Mad Max movies now days and we all have the last of the V8s!:D

I was giving all the information and I have done extended warranties in the past that have paid for themselves. In this case it was overpriced but I wanted to mention it.

Regardless of your comment I did not go through with any of it.

Vroom has a 2018 limited cm with 31k miles for $44.5k. Based on that I would say that’s not a great deal and you’re better off searching elsewhere. Or find that one on vroom

I just looked a bit through the 3rd gen posts. Not trying to disparage '22 buyers, but it looks like some of these trucks have turbo wastegate issues that Toyota hasn't fully gotten their hands around yet. I'd be cautious moving in that direction until all the bugs are worked out by Toyota.

    3rd gen has
    - QC issues
    - Turbo issues
    - Rear window rattle
    - Wind noise issues
    - Truck randomly shutting off
    - Infotainment bugs
    - Majority not meeting advertised MPG numbers. (thread poll results).
    - Getting one for MSRP is the "good deal" bragging. rights.

I'm hoping the Sequoia launch has most if not all of this resolved by then.

Wow. I did not realize they had this many problems and a lot of time to get this truck right. Shame.
