I just got a recall in the mail for my 2011 tundra. It’s for a potentially defective power steering gear service replacement assemblies. NHTSA recall No. 21E-103. I had my power steering rack replaced in august of 2020 out of pocket. Not sure if I would need to get it replaced again. Maybe Toyota would refund me lol.

Already a thread on it. Read the letter, specifically the red box on the right side of the first page. This has nothing to do with older trucks unless they had racks replaced after August 5th 2021, and even then there are only 151 defective replacement racks. Your replacement was before this issue, so you will not be reimbursed.

Got the mail yesterday. As I understand it you only need to bring it in if your truck got a steering related replacement part from 2021. Seems like parts or the steering rack manufactured at a certain time were faulty.

What others said is correct. I got the letter too and wondered if I needed to bring it in for inspection but reread the letter and the forum thread. The defective part was manufactured/installed after August 2021. So if you have the steering rack installed July 2021 or before, the recall does not apply to you.
