Seems everyone loves their RAS who has them. We have a trailer that's probably around 6500 lbs loaded. Add in some wood, generator and various things in the bed for a camping trip and we'll probably be close to maxed out on payload for the truck. I do use a weight distribution hitch to help reduce tongue weight. Outside of this, I haul the occasional load but otherwise don't do a lot of towing/hauling.

I'm not sure whether the RAS SD or HD would be the right choice. Anyone have thoughts? I don't necessarily want it to lift the back a ton as I have no other lift yet and won't for a while.

I learned on thing in life, go for more than you need on average and you have more longevity and flexibility if you need it. Id go HD with Tundra in general, especially with what you described. I set the RAS HD on 40% ( max setting ) and it lifted the back by 1" when empty. You can go with 25% setting and be around 0.5" lift. With my setting I noticed an Improvement in ride comfort when empty and when I tow trailer or have the bed full of tools and supplies the handling and comfort is greatly improved with little to no sag. Go HD, its worth the bit extra.

2nd vote for the HD. Been using mine for almost 1 year now. You don't need to set it real tight, so really lift can be minimized. Just get a airgap gap in the coils so it doesn't get loose during suspenion droop. Your gonna like it!

Get the HD. I did, it arrived Wednesday, I'll install it this weekend. You can always back the tension down if it's too much but you have the capacity in HD if you need it.

I just finished the installation and it went pretty smooth. Here are some before and after pictures. I gained exactly one inch setting the HD springs at 25% (white disc 1mm). I have @BOSS4x4s shackles set at the highest setting (third hole 2" lift). If the RAS makes the rear sit too high for my liking, I will need to drop the shackles to the middle hole. I will post pictures later when I get the truck outside.
