    Hey everyone,

I upgraded to Ironman coilovers last year set at 2”. The ride is on the stiffer side but my wife especially hates the ride as she gets car sick pretty easily. I know I know, keep her out of my truck and/or trade her for a newer model…..Haha

I am considering going to black stock shocks as they are probably the most soft/road comfortable. Do people actually like their black stock shocks in terms of road comfort? I had the yellow Bilstein 4600s (wasn’t a fan but they were softer than the Ironmans) before but never tried the black non TRDs.

I have the black stocks on my 21. I cant say that I hate them, but i dont love them either. They are really soft and you can feel everything on the road, but i would say its a comfortable ride on the highway. They arent good for offroading and they nosedive on braking, not excessive but its there. My wife gets car sick as well if she doesnt have airflow, but she has never complained in my truck. I will be going with the Eibach coilovers soon which are supposed to be stiffer but have good road manners.

If you dont have the rear sway bar, maybe consider that too to help her.

A suggestion...and you'd want the 612 coils if you have no aftermarket steel bumper. You could also try the Bilstein 5100s.

I didn't pick it. I hate carpet really, this is my wife's doing. At least the dog hair blends in with this rug.

I ran the Eibach Sport shocks on a previous Tunda and was pretty happy with them but there were still a little stiffer then stock. I think they were better than the Bilstein 4600s though.

I can't wait to get mine on. Probably after a couple more offroad excursions to get my money's worth of the alignment lol

Hey @dpast88 i thought you were going to run 5100s up front. I think they have a much more pleasant ride then the factory shocks.

I currently have Ironmans but bought some Eibach pro truck shocks which I ran and liked on my last tundra. They reuse factory shocks similar to the 5100s.

My 2015 Platinum came with the stock black shocks. I replaced them with Bilstein 6112 and noticed no difference in ride quality. I’m on TRD Pro Fox now and would say it rides softer.

My biggest takeaway is the tires make all the difference. I’m on load range E now and it will never be plush. Go back to P rated tires for best ride.
