Why in the fuck is anyone listening to a Toyota salesman, and an ignorant one at that, explain a mechanical defect?

Oh man , that tells me we have the potential for a lot more trucks and a longer term problem if something that recent just crapped out, are we sure that build date is the same failure?

Sounds like a little WD 40 could help the sticking....:)

The best solution is don’t buy this truck now. Ground breaking stuff , I know.

12/7 build date. Picked up 1/11 and just rolled over 1200 miles. Running strong-no issues. :)

It’s always good to hear from owners that don’t have any issues . Seems no matter how many trucks have the issue that’s all anyone hears about .

I have a hard time believing that build date. How did he get a truck literally built Tuesday and hes posting about it practically hours later??...doesn't even seem possible.

My truck was supposedly built Wednesday, I was hoping this shit was not this far into production.....

It was built in February of 2022, not on the 22nd of February, is how I'm reading that.

I bet heads are rolling within certain areas of toyota, they had to convince people that this v6 turbo was the way to go for numerous reasons and the V8 needed to go. then poof , they roll it out and its a shitbox at the moment.

thats not going to go over well for a company that stakes its rep on reliability.

looks like we need to wait a decent amount longer for them to flush out all the bad units since we have Feb builds taking a shit

Oh thank god. Somebody call TMMAL in Huntsville. Tell Jim Bob he can put down his angle grinder and can of WD-40.

Dunno that everybody rolls the Win44 way with the tool kit...beyond the turbo mystery, inquiring minds want to know if some of you blokes have an actual life outside of this thread.

Toyota doesn’t have much time to right the Tundra ship in the court of public opinion. Pretty soon it’s going to end up being labeled a shit heap. Right or wrong that’s the trajectory.

what we really need to see is no march builds with failures, thats what we need to see at this point.

I can't and won't argue that, you're spot on. I reasoned that by late Feb we'd be golden with this WG issue, but dunno now.
When my salesman and I talked (I shared a few of the 1% failure and other deets here) he flat out told me that if I didn't want the truck it was fine, there is a waiting list. The next meaningful allocation would be in about 90 days.

Too far from a dealer to deal with this. And I'm planning a NW, Ontario fishing run if the Northern border Stasi allows it.
If that works out, may have to load the camper on the Gen 1, grab the boat and hard pass on using the new '22. Brutal!
My neighbor badly wants my '01 DC 4wd. It's a low miles peach.

That's a good reminder, at least for me, that the engines are out of TMMAL. Maybe they had that many engines produced ahead of time and that's why we're seeing the February dates with the issues?

So here's what's happening with my truck for the past week. The tech pulled the codes but they weren't active anymore. He tried driving around and replicating the CELs for a few days without luck. Today he finally had the codes pop up again and he worked off of that. I am told the passenger side turbo waste gate isn't really being stuck, but opening too far. Luckily there was a turbo available to be shipped immediately in my region according to Toyota's DMS.
I asked if the cab or front bumper needed to be pulled for the work and he said no it will be done through the wheel well.

Maybe, but very non-JIT inventory of a Toyota process.

Yep, some of us own businesses that have to stroke checks for reliable trucks. Guess we are the problem…

Interesting saga. From a manufacturing POV, how does only one side fail? I guess they're mirror images of each other so maybe there is different machine tools for each bank. And maybe the bank 1 tooling was a bit loose? There doesn't seem to be consistency for the failures (other than bank 1). Vendor issues are difficult to sort out sometimes.

I keep coming back to this thread looking and hoping for some real information, to include an official Toyota announcement. 2 months and 48 pages... still no joy.
