We will do that. This time was a quick turn around. But I have it in the back of my head for when I'm your way with more time.

I’m still working on that. Stoked to fly home though. 34 degrees here today. I can live here during summer but man it’s cold during winter.

Seen one? I've been using them for like 15-20 years lol.

They work great and clean up with a razor blade super easy, if you have to pull the 3rd for whatever reason.

It's not a pos chevy/ford/dodge which silicone is needed for.

Welp, if I had your advice going in with your history - I would have used that today. My surfaces were tight. I could have gone no gasket and had a good shot. If this thing doesn't leak, I'll send my gasket to David with confidence. Thanks, @assassin10000, I love learning things here.

I don't think you will lose much in interior space, it actually might be very close. Current midsize trucks are yesteryears full size trucks (circa early 2000's) and are only getting bigger. As you mentioned the 2023 Rangers increased their width by 2" or so and the interior will be a bit bigger inside as well. I think the 2023 Rangers and 2024 Tacoma's (next gen) will be similar in size to FGT. I really like the new Ford Rangers (designed by Ford Australia and built for the global market) and I'd have to say Ford has been killing it lately with their truck division. The Tacoma on the other hand is only built for the NA market and it shows with its paltry payload numbers and poor powertrain choice.

I was at the LA Car Show to see the first Raptor. And drove the simulator (rad video game IMO) I've always liked them. More recently and after getting up to date with prices and tech, suspension, I like them more. I've shopped them and shopped LT "raptor" set ups for the Tundra. As much as I like the Raptor, I still like the Tundra better. Not stock, but in my mind, what it can be. So, win for the Raptor out of the gate based on off the lot ability and styling. I would rather build a Tundra. I'm not a fanboy of Toyota, I just see those later models on the road and know I want one. (not a 22')

The latest tundra I think I could reasonably see myself owning is a 2013. The last year of just a "simple" truck. I don't want a screen to tell me when to change my oil or a screen to tell me when to change brakes.

When your brakes sound like two cats fucking in a dumpster behind a taco bell. Or they're vibin weird.... time to change em.

I don't even like the "maintenance required" light that comes on every 5k miles for an oil change. I understand why it's there because the average consumer doesn't think about an oil change or maintenance. They assume if it starts and goes all is good.

I know young men, and women who weren't taught anything about cars. Gifted fairly new vehicles (post 2015 and up) who drove those cars until they seized up the engine from lack of lubrication. They never knew anything was amiss until it just stopped. One of them called me a few years back to come look at his car. So I did. It was running horribly.

I asked when he changed the oil last. He didn't have a fucking clue what I was talking about so I changed the oil/filter for him on a 2018 chevy Cruze. I shit yall not. That car was running on half a quart of oil. Maybe 1.25 of a quart if you include the oil in the filter.

I ran a magnet through the catch pan and picked up a lot of very fine metal shavings. I told him about it, and he said "oh well." His engine blew up 8 months later.

    I got off topic. Fork

We know who he is now and Police Services had a chat with him also. Hasn't been an issue since.

Unfortunately moving it to another area wouldn't be easy due to the building design

The new Ranger has really been a flop for Ford, sales wise. When compared to an F150 pricing and fuel economy are not that much different. I think they knocked it out of the park with the maverick though, probably the closest we will get to being able to buy a new mini truck. I picked a Raptor over the new Tundra, was not crazy about the styling of the Tundra and when I price compared a loaded SR5 it was almost as much as a Raptor. Also in the gulf states I'm not able to order one how I want, just have to sift through what's allocated. On another note, the Ranger Raptor will be a beast offload I bet.

Yeah, I've driven the new Ranger. It was a quick and torquey truck, but not as refined as the Tacoma IMO. The new Raptor Ranger will turn it into a new animal with better handling due to the wider track width. The higher HP engine has a lot of tuning potential.

I am curious what Toyota will produce for the new Tacoma coming out soon to compete. Their Atkinson 3.5 engine is pathetic in low end torque.

I wouldn't call it a flop. Since its re-introduction they've sold 83k, 101k, and 94k annually. Remember the current Ranger is based off the T6 platform which was introduced in 2011 to global markets. 2019 was the return of the Ranger to the US and if they're selling ~100k units a year for an outdated truck that's pretty good. Although like many Ford trucks fleet sales comprise a lot of their sales.

I think the new one will be a much better truck in terms of refinement. As mentioned above the current Ranger design has been out since 2011 globally. The 2023 will be an all new gen. Take what you have now, make it newer, more tech, more refinement, a bit bigger and add in a V6TT with 392hp and 430ft-lb torque and I think you have a Tacoma killer. It might not beat the Tacoma in sales due to reputation and following but Toyota is going to have a lot to compete with with the new Rangers IMO.

They're actually tuning it down to 288 hp from the numbers you stated (at least in Australia)...it doesn't mean you can't bump it back up a bit though. ;)

I agree. I haven’t ever messed with mine but the OEM gasket is paper thin. I would go with RTV as well

Glad to see more products continued to be worked on for our trucks. These will be super nice but I’m sure will come with a nice price tag.

The oem gasket for the rear is the most reliable seal. RTV can work. But the surfaces are not setup for an RTV type seal and occasionally may leak with RTV. If you ever look at a Toyota anything for RTV sealing has rounded edges vs a straight edge.
