Welp after having an interview for a new job on campus with the maintenance department earlier in the week I got the call today to say I didn't get the job.

However, they didn't hire anyone internal on campus for it. So being a shifty Union guy I've filed a grievance. Might seem salty but the way our contract is written is the most senior qualified bid would get the job.

This will be the 4th or 5th job they've sent out to the public without offering any bidder a training period. Which is really the reason I've filed. I'm ok where I'm at so it's not a big deal but someone has to call bullshit.

I'm thinking about it. Abeline is about a 3 1/2 hour drive.

oooooh yeah.... they are, aren't they? Bet parts would be hard to find unless they are 4.7L powered....

    @des2mtn

From wiki: "The Mega Cruiser was designed as a 4-door full-size SUV and features a 4.1 L turbo diesel inline-4 engine.[4][6] The engine was rated at 114 kW (153 hp) and 382 N⋅m (282 lb⋅ft) of torque at 1,800 rpm[11] while also being very robust.[1] A 4-speed Aisin-Warner automatic transmission with a two-speed transfer case transfers power to all four wheels.[6]

Its wheelbase is 3,395 mm (134 in) and it is 5,090 mm (200 in) in length. The vehicle is 2,075 mm (82 in) high and 2,170 mm (85 in) wide. It has a load capacity of 600 kg and has a curb weight of 2,850 kg (6,283 lb).[12] The SUV featured front, center, and rear differential locks, as well as four wheel steering. It has a central tire pressure system installed as an optional feature[6] and has a hardtop roof.[1] The Mega Cruiser has seats for two people in front and fourteen people at the back.[6]

The vehicle was intended to test designs that would eventually make their way into mass-produced Toyota SUVs, such as the Land Cruiser, but was financially unsuccessful for Toyota.[3]

While the Mega Cruiser was produced by Toyota in RHD configuration,[13] a few were reported to be made in LHD configuration.[14] As of 2020, around 12 were known to have been produced in LHD.[15]"

Not sure if possible to import toyota diesels.....

Bored in Sacramento airport waiting for my turn to haul horses. Tried a few tricks to get myself further north but so far nothing. Tempted to hang out at the rental car desk but I lack the small talk skills to suffer the dozen rejections it would probably take to find someone willing and heading the right way.

Pretty, but I won't buy another bike the color of 'background'. I need my bikes to immediately trigger the "what's wrong here, whoa" brain response.

Guess it depends on what you're going to do with it.
I get trucks to carry/ pull big &/or heavy stuff. That makes the truck squat. The brakes on these ain't the best when empty. For me, I want the truck taller enough to be seeing over stuff, especially when loaded, give me that extra second or two to get on the brakes.
I've got cars for zipping & being down low & gas sipping.

But if the truck's your primary ride & you don't have it full of heavy stuff often, then I say chase your fun zone.

Just passed the corvette museum. They've got two C8s out front. A red one and a black one. If I saw them in the wild I would assume they are European.

Wondering if this looks correct. Had a clunk then the axle wouldn't go in any farther no matter how hard I push on it.
These are aftermarket NAPA HD style axles.
I have to yank on it pretty good to get it back out. I made sure the snap ring/circlip had the opening facing down.
Wondering if maybe this is normal and just looks different due to the different shape of the aftermarket axle.

Haha those do look super odd! so I used the axle itself as a slide hammer to get them in, but that looks like it’s pretty close to the lip of the seal so you should be good. Give it a few love taps with the axle slide method and send it

Gave it a few taps. Didn't see much movement. Putting the axle back on the hub side now so hopefully if it isn't 100 percent seated yet that'll finish it off.
Old axles had a place to put a punch to tap them in or out. These have nothing. It's the little things.

Yep, it's a GMC with an auto. Didn't get a chance to ask the year, but it looked to be in pretty good shape.

So, I go away for a couple of days, come back, and it looks like whatever they're using for image compression here on the forum is borked, the logo is screwed up, all image uploads are grainy, what gives? :D

Ok, time to spend the next hour or so catching up on this thread before hitting the other.

Just insert your gas cap into the handle. Works great. Put the spine of the cap into the slot of the handle, it fits in many of them.

Damn, sorry bro. Hopefully it turns up intact, not stripped, and/or insurance pays out well so you can get something cooler.

If you've never driven a sport truck with a solid lowering/sport kit like what Belltech sells, and a few performance upgrades, you're missing out. It'll click if you do. They can look really good. It's all about what you want to do with your truck...

Yup. Got that email about 10 hours after I put in my order. Promptly kicked myself, knowing damn well there was a 90% chance they'd be having a presidents day weekend sale.

It's in the 68-72 era. I'm pretty sure '67 was small rear window. Based on the bed stylings, I'm guessing 69-70 or 71-72.

Doesn't seem salty to me. I've spent a fair amount of time as a union rep for a small group. It's the same everywhere, only you will fight for you. Half the time, getting some dipshit to just do what has been agreed to is the battle.
