Online most people, I really like the stock head unit of my 18 limited non-JBL. So I am wondering what I would gain going after market besides tunability? I can get a tuner for around $350 on Crutchfield. The only Alpine they say fits my truck is almost $900. I like the way the stock head unit as the map and what music you’re playing all on the same screen. All speakers and amp will be JL. Thoughts?

for me a bigger screen (10.1), and carplay were the big must haves. i did a JL amp and 2 JL 12subs. for speakers I went with Focals. i guess the head unit would be the lowest impact after the subs speakers and amp. maybe do the other stuff first?

If stock is good enough and you’re not looking for better sounds and overall better performance. I’d stay with stock. No sense in spending money if stock fits your needs.
Aftermarket deck will give you more adjustability for better sounds. Update with newer features like carplay and android auto.

I like the stock head unit because it simply does what I need. It has multiple inputs I use (CD, usb, bluetooth, satellite radio, aux) plus navigation, which helps since I have an old phone plan without unlimited data. It looks OK, not outdated yet in my opinion.

    Too many, but not enough....
Other than the fact that my 21 doesnt have a cd player, I am fine with the stock one, no issues with connectivity or anything. It also helps that i dont really care about audio anyway lol. I just have a giant case of CDs that are now very lonely.
