Has anybody had their 2022’s fuel gauge reset back to full, and distance to empty rise after burning an 1/8th of a tank or so?

My fuel gauge reset after the last service with Toyota. I think that they reset the computer but the work receipt didn't include any mention of it. When I filled the (38 gallon) tank following the service, I noticed that the range indicator showed a range of just shy of 600 miles. Prior to that fill up, the range never indicated more than 460 miles. I also noticed that on each fill up since the service, the amount of fuel added matches the amount of fuel that I'd expect to add based on the fuel gauge reading. It appears that the computer now recognizes that the tank will not be empty when there are still 7 or 8 gallons remaining.

I suppose that would make sense. Only have 550 miles on the truck, but it literally was 1/8th of a tank burned, got in the truck the next morning and fuel gauge went back to full, and added about another 70 miles on “distance to empty” meter. I’m baffled and the only thing I can think of is similar to what you’ve said and the computer senses more fuel/better fuel economy and adjusted the reading.

I had something similar happen today. Had almost 1/4 tank left when I went to detail shop. After the detail shop I now have over half a tank. I’m still on my first tank of gas from dealer. o_O

There was one incident where I filled up my truck but the needles didn’t move. And continued to go down. It went back to full on the next fill up..

Just had this happen randomly if I am understanding the issue. Earlier today my gauge was at 3/4 and started up earlier and it showed full with full distance to empty. Pulled the negative terminal and reset the truck.. went back to normal. Ugh
