I realize that I myself and my pristine reputation are getting trashed in this thread. But it's important that I clarify: I love turtles!!!!

That is a fine lookin new truck, for somebody :monocle:

But sorry, for me that is the definition of lipstick on a pig :anonymous:
    To each their own :hattip:

At least it's still a Tundra and not made by bmw :puke:

We can still be friends

After all, my 2.5 gen looks like a ram.

I confuse Rams with Tundra's all the time at first glance goin down the road.

    It's so disappointing :bananadead:

    You're not wrong.

The Tacoma was a hellava nice little pickup once upon a time.

I really like my 3rd gen 4Runner also, similar look.

The only issue was both are just too small dimensionally.
If they were just larger, they would have been perfect.

When I get in my 4runner now it feels like a coffin, and I can't even get comfortable in the tiny seat lol.

    It happens.

    But a spade's a spade.

And no, I was never in the market, but was hoping there would be a future in a Tundra if I ever needed/wanted/was able to move up in 10 years or so.

Currently that dream is dead, but who knows what fresh hell awaits in the coming years.

Could you imagine if they made that 90's Tacoma exactly the same but scaled bigger so it would be the size of a half ton. Exact same look just bigger. It would be awesome!

    You mean this?

Dont get me wrong, I still daydream about having a clean 93-94 era pickup as a daily. But those looks do not scale well.

    Edit: I've owned a 93,94 and 99 pickup/taco

What would be unreal is if Toyota came out with a reproduction of a truck or 4runner from the 90s. Modern drivetrain, upgraded safety, but same, size, look, body lines and interior.

    OP -
The 22 Explorer looks like the range rover is because Ford owed Range rover (and range rover owned Austin martin) from 2001 to 2008 - so in between those times, a lot of Range rover designers/engineers did crossover work for ford. A lot of designs were copied for Ford.

Like this Ford Focus and Austin Martin.

2011 is when Ford Explorer took drastic design change and started shaping like a range rover... running to 2022 taking full-on design.

My best guess is Ford spread out the suggested design for 10 years so it doesn't really look like Range Rover-looking Ford SUV.

All this talk of the Tundra looking like other trucks is just silly. All 1/2 ton trucks look similar in a lot of ways, and different in a lot of ways.
Its a pickup truck with wheels and a hood and fenders and doors and a bed and windows, and...
How much different can they look? Bumpers, grills, lights, fender curves, badging, paint colors, interior layout and features, all little details that set each one apart from the rest, but there's only so much you can do and still have a truck. I think the HD Chevy front ends are horrendous but I don't take the time to go around on truck forums and poo poo on them. (oops, maybe I just did, but you get the point).

I’m not a huge fan of the 22. Much better all color matched. But honestly… the new sequoia is way better looking to me.. I just can’t do big grills. Even the 2.5 gen.. meh.

Your local best gen owner. ;)

I have to applaud Toyota for a nice simple tailgate, no stupid steps, etc. those gmc tailgates are $$$ if damaged

I'm still waiting for a pickup truck manufacturer to omit the little lift at the back of the crew cab rear window that they've all had since the first Nissan Frontier.

I went to take a look at the 2022 platinum yesterday. It seems like a nice truck, but the cabin is smaller. The bigger thing that stuck out to me was the fuzzy fender liners. They don’t seem like they would be very durable long term.

Fwiw our sienna has fuzzy liners in the rear. They are totally fine. I also don't wheel my sienna...

Edit: Id imagine it's for sound deadening.

At least they have fender liners. Chevy dealers will sell you fender liners after you just plopped down $60K+ on a truck.

I really love my 2019 so I hope to keep it for a long time. I’m always wary of new and improved models the first year they come out. It seems to take a while to get all bugs worked out At the ranch we had the 1993 Ford F-250 diesel with the turbo and the first year was hell. We went thru 4 turbos before the dealership got it all figured out. The good news is that 1993 truck is still used at the ranch. It tows the trailer with all the fencing equipment.
