Yup, you got little critters making bedding somewhere not too far away.

Best thing you can do is trap and kill them, either w/mechanical traps (smear peanut butter on the tang) or glue traps (can get messy, they'll chew their own leg off).

Don't bait, unless you like smelling rodent corpse rotting in an air vent or something. Not sure if you'll ever find where they're getting in because they can squeeze into extremely tight gaps, which everything has.

I've heard the peppermint spray thing too but not sure I buy it. I've tried that and cayenne with squirrels, which are just jumbo sized rodents, and shit never works.

PS - best thing you can do for now is declutter. Clutter is a McMansion for rodents. If you need to keep shit somewhere, throw it in a toolbox in the bed - OUTSIDE the cabin area.

Catching up on what all you've done since last I looked and ran across this. It might be something you let Bruce fool with but in case you're froggy, unplug the ECT and with your VOM, check for a gnd at pin 1(green-white wire). For pin 2(grn wire), that's the ref voltage the thermistor inside ECT uses and varies in resistance according to eng coolant temp, that wire to batt gnd should be approx 5vdc ref voltage with IGN ON. Since you're not fuzzy warm about the harness and now mice assholes, you might have issue with that circuit from ECM to ECT. If you want to do some more continuity testing that @RainMan_PNW mentioned pages back, try to hook meter up to
pin 2 of ECT and pin 14 of ECM, bop on harness in few places to see if there might be break. I'm also wondering if it's still got air in system causing ECT to be squirrely !

    Stoked you're still at it.

I'll have to tinker with this once I have crackie back from Bruce. Not against giving it a shot, but the truck is Bruce's baby until a determination is reached at least.

I know how he gets. That may result in more damage than it will fix! I'll just pull the seats, the carpet, and whatever else I can put of the interior. I need to see how rusty the floor is anyways.

Before I dropped the truck off with Bruce I took a short video of the exhaust leaks. Lol

Bruce called today. He said that he hooked up his testing equipment, and it told him the truck had a bad ground. So he found it, and repaired it.

Could it really have been so simple? I have a hard time believing that, but time will tell.

Scheduled to pick up the truck Friday at no cost to me since it was such a quick fix. I'll still throw $100 their way for their time.

    From his clerk directly quoted:

"His note on the worksheet: "Repaired bad ground on upstream oxygen sensor (Bank 2)"

Check the build link in my signature.
Given the fact that changing the sensor and the ECM both didn’t fix the fact that you weren’t getting any reading from that sensor - yes, it could have been that simple.

Agree wholeheartedly. I think a lot of times we focus on the power delivery side of the circuit, not the other, despite it being equally important. Poor grounding causes all kinds of issues, whether it's car audio or sensors. How it manifests IRL may be different - whether audible noise or electronic noise - but is effectively the same problem.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the source of your woes, and is what RM had you ultimately testing to find. I expected it was going to be a broken, nicked or compromised wire on the delivery side. I didn't expect it to be a ground. Ask him if he can show you exactly what was repaired, I'd be curious to see.

So, I'm planning on picking the truck up a day early tomorrow. If its Bueno, I'll drive crackie to work either friday, and give it one hell of a workout on the freeway! Need to dig some seafoam out from the stash for the tank on the way up, and to add some to the oil for the trip back.

    Yup, still smells the same.
    20220217_094949.jpg

Spoke with Bruce. He's too covered up today to show me where the ground was, and as you can see it's pissing cats and dogs. He did say that I could drop by anytime, and he would show me. He explained that it would be easier to show me than to explain it to me.

Pulling up live data now with my scan tool. Truck finally went into a low idle with a sweet, sweet rumble at idle. It feels like I always thought it should. I have got to get off this damn thing, and see that beautiful information on my screen. BRB

May be too much back ground noise once I start rolling.

It was smellin very gas-like. Just has that used, and abused farm truck interior/exterior smell now.

Think all that can be dealt with Purdy easy though. Now, I can get some damn suspension work lingo in my brain. The lower ball joints look literally like the bottom shelf brand from discount O'Reillys.

Yeah, maintaining low idle of 850-900-ish rpms now instead of constantly trying to get to temp.

Driving crackie the long way to work as maiden voyage after Bruce worked his magic. 92 miles one way. Meeting up with HR at the start of shift to fill out a report so if they tell me to pack my shit and go I'm prepared for that too.
