Sumosprings

2020 tundra sr5 crewmax with 20 inch tires.
Installed the 1500 sumos yesterday. I used my dewalt torque wrench drill to remove the bolts. I still sprayed the bolts with blaster to help loosen the bolts. However used digital torque to reinstall.
Once installed there was only 1/2 inch gap between frame and sumo. Drove around with uploaded truck. Seems about the same. I pull a enclosed landscape trailer but haven't hooked up yet.

Install took about 30 mins, if that for both sump springs

Did you replace the ubolts? They are designed as a one time use.

 

The issue with Sumo springs is they limit axle articulation. For offroad articulation, you can buy a second set and cut them down about 1.5 " with a saw or sharp knife. Then when you need to swap, droop the rear axle with a hi lift under the hitch and twist off the taller Sumo's followed by twisting on the cut down set for a similar factory height bump stop. Just my $.02 to solve the only issue I had with my own yellow Sumo's. Good investment for sure! If you want even better check out Roadmaster Active Suspension. You need to research, not a good idea to reuse. Google the subject a bit.

 

It is a debatable topic among some, but I would replace them. They are designed with rolled threads that distort after their initial torque during installation. That distortion and flexing of the ubolts causes them to lose their torque holding capability. They have been known to come loose. IMO, I would feel more comfortable replacing them for $40.00.
