I have a 2016 Tundra crew cab and this morning my dash said trailer brake control error and I've never seen that before. can this be a simple at home fix?

need more info, miles on truck, were you towing or had trailer hooked up, have you done any electrical mods/changes recently, what was the temperature outside when it happened, any other errors or warning lights? Could be a couple different things, these threads should help. Rodent damage to wiring, battery with low volts, bad cell or battery going out, wheel speed sensor, ABS sensor can cause it.

and you can search in upper right and find threads about what you need

Thanks for your reply and the links for poss remedies frichco, 56000 miles, haven't trailered anything for 6 months, in Florida so outside temp wasn't very low about 50 degrees, no other error lights or any mods and no rodent damage. I'l go through the links.

No, it can be for other reasons, no towing required for the faults to appear. Tundra issues and errors do not always present themselves for what they really are.

Billy's tundra here and thanks to all who replied with ideas for "trailer brake control error". Disconnecting the battery cables worked.
