I've been eyeing the new Tundra as my next vehicle/truck and I'm no rush whatsoever, so I can wait for all the minor issues to be sorted out. Plus I'm leaning towards the Hybrid version...

That being said, I've got some questions for the Canadian folks, why can't we customize/option the Tundra's the same way the US market does? I've been seeing some US Tundra's SR5 with upgraded options.

I've been looking at the limited, but with some added options such as 360 camera, triple beam LED headlights and other options that only seem to come on the Platinum.

Is there such way to add these options to the limited without going to the Platinum?

From my experience, no. I played with the US build site and the Canadian one before I got my SR5 TRD OR and our build options up in Canada are very limited. You can’t pick individual options to add like you can in the US, you have to move up a trim level.

One could dream right? That's exactly what I had done, and when I went to the Canadian site was such a disappointment!

The price difference between Limited and Platinum is still 15k! :eek2:

I agree, it seems all the truck manufacturers limit your build options somewhat, but Toyota Canada is the most restrictive. That being said, so far I’m happy with the truck and it’s got everything I need and the options it’s doesn’t, I’ll add aftermarket or live without, ex: running boards and bed step. Good luck if and when you decide, I’m sure you’ll enjoy either one.

If you like the limited but want cameras, you need the TRD OR package up here. Or yes, upgrade big $$ for a platinum. It is frustrating to have such limited options.

Thanks, I'll keep doing my homework!

Agree that lots can be modified or changed, but the biggest issue I have are the headlights and the chrome inside them on the lower-end models :(

Good catch! Didn't really want or need OR package, but I'll look at it, thanks!

I'm in Ontario and I got a base Limited. Ordered the Limited TRD OR, but it was not even allocated yet when the base Limited came in, so I opted to take that instead. I miss the cameras that I had in my F150 Platinum, but it's not the end of the world. Just have to get used to the mirrors more. Also the Tundra has front bumper sonars that the F150 never had, so that's a big help without the extra cameras.

Overal super happy with the truck. I think the Limited trim or Limited with TRD OR are in the sweet spot for the Canadian market in terms of features for the price. The upper trims have more features to want, but they're not really things you need.

I agree - limited OR is our sweet spot. Mine comes in May though :-(

NP, I was the same, didn’t need the crawl control stuff, but wanted the cameras. TRD OR Limited is waaayy cheaper than a platinum! Good luck on your search man!

Check out Lean Manufacturing and the Kaizen. It's part of Toyota's mandate. Thats my guess why they do not give options like they do in the USA or, even in the USA, there are not dozens of options like you can get on a Ford, etc.

I'd also be interested, if you ever get PMs! I was just looking at the pricing and wonder when the interest rate will go down a couple %. I doubt it's in the next couple months given its a new truck:(

Paid MSRP, but trade in values are sky high right now to offset that and then some.

Don't get too greedy. Remember: Pigs get fat. Hogs get slaughtered.

MSRP, that's it. Couldn't even get them to throw in the $300 bed mat.

Yes - nominal amount showing on invoice, only to entice the trade in. But it is is coming off the other end anyways.
So the difference paid is all that matters.
And if no "trade in" the answer is no.
Remember they have $6000 base truck, plus any rebates and incentives to play with.
The dealer I refer to above did not even want to sign paperwork for the deposit. Said it wasn't worth it.
If I turned it down - if ....when .... - it arrived and I did not want it....he has a lineup of buyers.
thats how the story went in Jan. 2022

My dealer said they're only getting 80 Tundras this year. Most are probably sold or have someone on a list waiting for it and happy to pay MSRP.

Wonder if we wait some time for the hype to die down, 8-10months from now, if we'll have better negotiations with the dealer? Or even better financing rates?

I just ran a CarCostCanada on the Limited and like you said, the difference between Dealer Cost and MSRP is about 6k, but knowing that these sell like hotcakes don't think we have much chance with a rebate...

Completely unrelated, does Toyota have, during the year, a time where they have bigger rebates or financing?

Its some hype but more so supply and demand imo. I do not see anything changing for used or new vehicles in 2022. That means higher prices for used and longer waits for new
And the Bank of Canada is about to raise rates in March, so any rates you see right now are only going to get worse.
