Yes, bed mat it the best of both worlds. Slide it in, or let it stay put. The first week, my wife drove her Tacoma shit was sliding eveeywhere!

 

Just FYI, I had to replace my 1/4" thick mat that I bought for my tail gate with a Bed Rug. The mat was too heavy for the strut that helps with lowering the tailgate.

 

Is that a 6.5' bed>Do you happen to have the P/N for it?

I’m guessing the Long bed is the 8 foot and short bed is the 5.5 foot. The top one seems to be for the regular 6.5 foot bed.

 

what sucks is how thin the oem bed mat is. i thought the pics showed a thicker mat.

thats more a liner than a mat imo

 

It’s pretty thick. It works extremely well. I’m pretty rough on mine and I ha ent once ever thought it was too thin

 

I have the Westin bed mat in my crewmax. I am also Line-X coated.

 

I had OEM bed mat for my Tacoma, and I love it so heavy so thick and sticky
nothing will slide around

is your Tundra OEM mat the same way?

 

I had the Tacoma mat which was thicker and heavier than the Tundra mat. I now have the tundra mat in my 2022 Limited. It works really well, but it is not as heavy or thick as the OEM Tacoma mat.

Any chance the 2021 5.5' bed mat fit the 2022 5.5' bed ?

Got my bed mat yesterday and while it was rolled up on the ends from being in the packaging I noticed the wind caught it and it flapped around a bit on first highway drive. Won't be an issue in the future when my tonneau gets installed but in the interim once the mat spends some time unrolled does anyone have issues with the wind catching it on highway?

 

I'd take that mat out and flip it over on the ground and let it flatten out. Had the same mat in my 14. It never flapped around. Freakin heavy.

 

I had to pickup some softener salt so I've got that sitting on the ends overnight to help flatten it out. Otherwise I'll lay in driveway in the sun once its not 15 degrees outside.

 

Shouldn't be an issue once it flattens. Mine flatten within the first couple days and that's with it under my tonneau cover and cold days...

 

Definitely getting a bed mat when I pick up my truck. Friggen dealer wouldn't even throw it in as part of the deal. Boo hiss.

 

put it in the bed upside down and park in the sun. should flatten pretty well. then flip it back right side up when it does.

 

Still can't believe how well the bed mat stops everything from sliding around. You could place a Yeti 110 full of ice cold silver bullets in there without strapping it down and it won't move unless you go offroad, which is probably where you were going with such a precious payload.

 

After some settling and highway testing there is no way this Toyota OEM bedmat is going to stay put long term in an open bed. I love the mat and have no doubt it'll be fine once my tonneau arrives but in an open bed this thing is a liability to fly out or flap up and smack the side of the bed.

Toyota should have used thicker material IMO

 

Damn, should be getting my bed mat today from Sparks. Assumed the OEM mat would have been much thicker than what I'm seeing within these posts. Like someone mentioned, they definitley decided to cut corners vs the quality/thickness in the years past.

Just had to ask, but I see many bed liners that's been applied on top of this composite bed. Genuinely curious, why would you do that vs.having a bed mat?

 

Same mat as gen 2? I saved mine from 2021, just in case.

I went with a spray in liner from the factory so I came from a Tacoma with a composite bed the bed mat was nice for things not sliding around but I wanted the added protection for hauling things I haul Stone wood landscaping materials etc. and I just wanted some more protection

Actually I’ll put a tape on it and report back. Maybe 3/8?

 

Good to know, thanks! I think I'll hold off on ordering the OEM one and go with a Black Armour mat instead. Theirs are 1/2" thick.

 

OK I stand corrected the OEM bed mats are 3/16th thick. . I gave Toyota way too much credit. Glad I got my dealer to give me that one, and didn't pay for it.

Like I mentioned earlier it'll suit my needs fine when I get my tonneau installed but until then i'm going to have to keep shit on it so it doesn't flap or move.
