Ok I want to get a muffler for my tundra but my issue is I don’t know what I want. I’ve read through the forum and have done tons of research but everybody has a different answer, so I’ve decided to just ask. I don’t want to be very loud and really trying to get as minimal drone as possible. I just want the sporty you hit the petal and you can hear it but not super loud in the cab. I’ve heard the flowmaster super 50 and I do like that and I’ve heard the flowmaster 50 hd. So I really don’t know between those since they are significantly different on the sound scale and I’ve only heard them through video and so everyone knows you just can’t get that same sound through a video and I feel like the 50 hd would drone badly so I want y’all’s opinion on it. Or if there is a better muffler which I know of dirty deeds but I haven’t heard it yet and also do y’all think I should remove the second cats or just leave them and put in the exhaust. So just tell me what y’all think.

Keep your cats, they are there for a reason. Search here and youtube, there are dirtydeeds vids. Even the stock exhaust has some drone if you listen for it, so aftermarket mufflers will too unless the system is designed to address that- so just a muffler swap will not address the drone potential. Dirtydeeds uses a resonator on the tailpipe and it works as designed.

I use the DD 10 inch standard stainless steel system with resonator. Not obnoxious, never buzzy or raspy, cold starts are not going to bother your neighbors. It has a nice, deep, tuned sound.

Did a quick search for you- enjoy https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dirtydeeds+tundra+exhaust

Ok so I've looked at the dirty deeds exhaust and yeah i do like them. And yeah I know that even that stock exhaust has drone i just didn't want the really bad drone that some exhaust have that I've heard about. But now my situation is price I'm really not trying to spend that much on a exhaust. Now I do know that you get what you pay for type of situations so ill spend the money on a good exhaust but i just don't want to spend that much. So I did some more looking on the dirty deeds website and see that they sell just the muffler alone but there no real description or anything so what do you recommend I get for the size and inlet/outlet size and do you know if that's for the pair or just one cause if its just one i might just get the weld on.

If you are looking for a muffler only, a mild flowmaster may not be too bad, 50 series. May want to check out Magnaflow. And if you didnt know dirtydeeds can set you up with a muffler too. Give Keith at DD a call, he is very informative and knows about tundras, exhaust and related performance.

If you want to go the less expensive route look at mufflers with a straight through design which are magnaflow and I think the flomaster 50 series as well. I prefer the sound and performance of a non baffled muffler and supposedly there’s less drone. You can always add a resonator as well to help with drone after the fact. I had a Nissan Titan that I added a 22inch magnaflow muffler to. Loved the deep sound but had a bit too much drone so I added an aftermarket resonator that needed welded on and it sounded great after that. Lots of guys on here selling their hemholz resonators which is a non weld option. That’s going to be a cheaper route than a whole system.

I have had the flowmaster 50 on for about 2 months now. I think it is a good mix of growl and quiet. I find it Comes alive when your accelerating up to speed and if you hold it in the 2500rpm range (around town) but back to being quiet when cruising and at idle. No “drone”, can slightly hear it more than the stock when cruising on the highway but it doesn’t bother my kids (6 and 4) or wife.

If you were wanting a louder or more aggressive tone I would probably go with the flowmaster 40 because the 50 is on the milder side in my opinion

    ^ This..

The ONLY exhaust upgrade for Tundra..
Direct bolt-on into existing exhaust system.

If you want the Helmholtz resonator, drill a 2-inch hole and mount it.
    Drone minimized, lower than stock..

You buy a Magnaflow, Flowmaster, Carven, etc, and you don't like it?
    You're stuck with it.
And good luck calling them personally and discussing your wants and needs.

I first had a Flowmaster on my 2014 and it gave me the DRONE FROM HELL on the highway.

Call Keith @dirtydeeds and get personal attention.

I went with the Flowmaster 50 series delta flow. Agree with the post above. Not as loud as 40 series but much better than stock. Nice growl to it. No regrets. AB73465A-36F4-4890-9715-29AC1955ECD2.jpg

If you decide to switch up the muffler in the future, check out black windows race venom muffler. Nothing too aggressive or drone.
