installed led’s. Im too cheap for Mesos, these will do. Man those map lights are flimsy. I think iverall Toyota could have put more thought in the overhead area, its a plastic desert.

I installed the Meso Customs chrome blackout kit tonight because the chrome would reflect sunlight in my eyes which drove me nuts. I prefer it over AJT because I don’t like the bolt head look. There are no instructions that I could find for installation so I wanted to share.

For the two main pieces, I just followed the AJT instructional video. Once the center console is removed, the trim around the cupholders can be simply unclipped from the back and clip the new one in.

The shifter one has six plastic welds that are required to be drilled out with a 1/4”’drill bit. Once done, there are clips holding the trim in. Unclip it, snap the new one in.

The shift gate was the trickier but still not bad. I’ll give AJT the win on this one because theirs is an overlay that just snaps on top of the chrome, meaning easy install. Meso is a full replacement.

Anyways, once the center console is out, there are four tabs holding the shift gate on. You pry gently on two on one side and it unclips pretty easily.

There are a bunch of plastic rivets on the back. I used a pair of flush cuts to cut the heads off of each one and the chrome pried off. I snapped the meso one in. It may have been fine as-is but I had some epoxy on hand from another project so I put a couple of dabs on for extra insurance.

The finished product is well worth it and hopefully he puts out proper instructions soon.

I have the American Flag Tundra inserts and LOVE them. I originally bought the cheap ones and that’s what they were. Returned them and purchased the good ones and they were well worth it. Link is below for the good ones.

Received my LED upgrade harness from @iHacker. Hopefully I can get the lights installed this Sunday before the game. Looks to be pretty straightforward but anyone who has done this if you have any tips to share they are welcome.

Get some zip ties. You need it to hold the lubed up clips together. Check his instructions. That’s all you need to know, it’s like a 15 min mod if that.

yes I did see the zip tie recommendation in the instructions. Probably more about getting them aimed correctly is what Could potentially be an issue.

    Thanks!

With mine I just used the auto leveling feature inside the truck. At first I was blinding people, but I cranked it a couple ticks & they went way down. I had it set at the lowest, then went up a couple clicks from there. Done deal. They’re bright btw, big improvement. I notice how bright they are even with 35% windshield tint :eek2:

yes I saw that you should set to zero before removing the old ones but did you have to do any adjustment at the headlight or were they pretty much “aimed” correctly out of the box?

I didn’t do any adjustment for months. Then I lifted my front end 2.5” & noticed I was wearing people out in front of me. So I just used that dial inside the cab to run them a little lower. I think I did 3 clicks out of 10? They really move quite a bit with 1 or 2 turns of the dial

    Too many, but not enough....
Didn't do this all today but it's pretty new and very happy with it all.

The ironman bumper is absolutely exemplar. It was 1600 shipped with the lightbar, and 3 sets of pods with recovery points, fairlead and license plate bracket. The fit is perfect too. Not too heavy at 110 lbs and the 2 pc design made install simple. I also got their 12k monster winch with a free extra control box, wires and controller with a 5 year warranty.
I am really a big fan of ironman stuff now. Tried out the winch to tension it and it's pretty fast compared to badlands.

Not sure if its visible in pics but the MHX tranny cooler is behind the grill, painted black with some Eastwood. Install not bad at all, leveling was annoying though. Great kit, pan temps haven't gone above 199 since install. Used to hit 230 cruising unloaded.

Also got my BD ditches on with SDHQ brackets, which have a unique vibration damper I haven't seen on others. The wide cornering lense are the way to go for ditches hands down.

FRAC also put on with my switch pro. Awesome mod and fit like it was made to go in the SR5 grille.

How many miles do you have on it? I've got 65k on mine. I thought I read that you can get like 100k out of the plugs. Seems like an easy job on this truck. I had to change them every year or like every 10k on my Speed3 because I had it tuned and it chewed right through plugs. 4 fewer than this but had to remove the top mount intercooler to get them

yea mine is already lifted about 3” in the front but also 1.25 in the rear - so net front lift of about 1.5”.

Did this over a few days, but finally got it wrapped up today. Added chase lights so that I can avoid unsolicited rear end contact in dusty conditions, using Diode Dynamics SSC1 Pros with amber wide pattern lenses. Very happy with the results.

Awesome. Been thinking about putting some chase lights there too. Did you only use the plastic rail top to mount?

Yeah, I originally wanted to mount them at the edges of my tonneau cover on the last panel, but there wasn’t enough room when I folded the cover up. I sandwiched the plastic cap with fender washers, though, and it seems like it should hold up pretty well. If it doesn’t hold up, I’ll do something more solid in the stake pockets.

I’m in between setups right now, planning on getting a Switch Pro soon. I hijacked the relay and switch I had in place for my ditch lights, but left the main run long enough that I can reach where the SP panel will be mounted by the battery. I used some jacketed 18/3 stranded copper and ran it along the frame to the gas fill tube, then exited between the bed and cab using a 3/8” rubber grommet.
    8508BC88-1183-42C4-8067-07124B74153D.jpg 138A094B-B610-4B89-A0A5-86A6D746BAE3.jpg 12B6C70B-6833-43EC-A95C-65004AD76A70.jpg

I ran to the other side using the same wire, but wrapped in loom and ran it between the bed panel brace and bed. I didn’t get a great pic of that.

so question I am getting from someone - do the low beams stay on with the brights using the harness and led lights or is it low only or high only?

not difficult at all. They are held on by panel clips. The center is super easy but the sides the clips tend to separate from the posts and sometimes will drop down in the dash but just pry from the front and then the sides for the corners - the back part of those are hinged at the back so don’t pry up at the back on those….back being the end closest to the windshield

Where did you get the boot? Does it have the proper clip to attach to the knob or did you rig it somehow?

I am at 113k. I don’t think they had ever been changed before. Bought the truck at 83k and it came with 100% thorough/complete service records and they didn’t mention changing spark plugs. I actually have the V6 1GR-FE engine so only 6 plugs but it wasn’t a hard job. Plugs still looked good to me but I plan to keep the truck forever so I went ahead and replaced them. Thanks to Kano Kroil penetrating oil for making the job easier. I was worried about pulling the threads like the Ford 5.4s are notorious for!
