03 tundra stalls after replacing battery terminal

Sorry for not replying sooner but i cleaned up the sensor with some cleaner that I bought ,drove it about 30 miles to an ex toyota technician and it didn't stall, however the idle was low and he cleaned up the throttle body and idles like it should and no stalling now. He explained that disconnecting the terminal and then reconnecting it might have caused it to reset but at the poor running mode.

 

When ever you disconnect the battery your onboard computer looses the memory it has collected over time and that affects your idle to. Your truck should correct its running habits within a day of so, any time you disconnect and reconnect your battery.

 

Old thread but looks as if the correct answer needs to be here for others. Believe it or not all you have to do is get it on the freeway and turn the heater all the way on max, 60 mph for 10 min. That's it! Just make sure you have gas in the thing and it's back to running like a champ.

Id always clean up your negative post too. Check the connection to the chassis and engine block for good contact. A lot off times a bad ground can cause problems too.

Did this and cleaned the MAF after having a dead battery and low idle & stalling, it worked!

So this is a thing?
Truck was dead, no power. I took the positive off for about a minute or two. Turned it on and it has very low idle. If what you yall are saying is true, the computer needs to "re-learn"?

 

Yes. Any time the battery is off for more than 5-10 minutes, the ECM will start a new learning cycle. At least, in the 1st gens. Because this thread is in the 1st Gen forum. I can't speak to your 2012 Tundra.

Our 2010 4runner does it, but falls flat on its face the first try, then second startup it runs fine
