I have a 2001 Toyota Tundra ect cab with short box with a plow mounted on it . The problem is the box is beyond gone . It’s getting to be almost impossible to get a replacement box / truck bed for it. It’s almost like a hard truck except for occasionally going from one location to another.
If I don’t care about how it looks with a mid match, will it be possible to use a truck box from another make and drill holes to match the mount points and install it . Again it’s just so that I don’t get pulled over by the local police who will see the holes from outside all the way into the bed.
What make / model will be the nearest fit or need the least work.
I don’t want to do a flag bed conversion.

Is that bed rust the only problem? Gotta feeling something sinister lurks beneath. Junkyard is your best bet at a new bed. Look south sir and be willing to drive for it.

Question is : can I use a bed from another make and modify it to fit the Tundra by drilling mount holes at the required spots

Sure. A few things will be tricky though. Tail lights, gas filler location, wheel well location etc. would take some modding, doubt there’s a bed that has the Tundras rear axle location. Too far forward.

See the difference in distance from cab to tire?
