    Hi everyone,
Just wondering since I have never done it before how does one go about cleaning the engine bay and engine of just overall buildup of dirt and crud to make it look nice.

How and what to use would be a great help!
    Thanks

Steam. And certainly no high pressure water, but if you use water, cover all electronics first.

I'd still say steam is best, find a pro and get good equipment.

Lots of time, lots of different brushes, compressed air with mild pressure, simple green all purpose cleaner. Start at the top and work your way down. Dry brush and blow first, then wet brush and blow dry at about 50 PSI. About an eight beer and two chili dog project.

Custom bug spat pattern hood, grill & bumper. Dead Live Oak leaf collection under hood, cowl and lower fenders. Beach sand custom floor covering.
We use mineral spirits blasted with a siphon feed compressed air gun when cleaning the airplane engine. Although old magnetos are a far cry from today's delicate electronic equipment. If it's just dirt and dust sometimes it just best to close the hood on the dirt and let the OCD deal with it. Oil leaks are a different story.

I’ve kept mine pretty darn clean from new.

I use ONR in a spray bottle and many microfiber towels. Once clean, wax any painted surfaces. 3 times a year or so.

Vacuum the underside of the hood, and the leaf-catch area under the windshield.

    Beers and chili dogs…
