Just trying to see if anyone else has experienced this. Everytime I really romp the truck hard after it sits overnight I get a puff of bluish black smoke on start up. But just driving normally starts up fine. I don’t drive like that very often at all just wondering if maybe it’s carbon burning off or something? I’ve had no issues for 4 months then really got on it to pass someone and smoke in the morning. Thanks for any input.

Yeah my ‘18 does this whenever I give her beans somewhat soon to being home. First time it stressed me out but I’ve just accepted it now. I’ve seen other threads about it as well.

When its dirty cold, all of our vehicles make grey smoke on start up.

Reviving this to see if anyone knows exactly why this happens.
I've noticed this a few times on my truck but never realized the correlation between spirited driving and the puff until a few days ago.
Was pulling out of a side road when someone doubling the speed limit came around a corner, I got on it to keep from getting hit. Drove roughly 10 miles home, parked, and when I fired it up 6 hrs later it belched blue/black smoke like op stated.

Hello, I had this same issue with my 2012. Mine was a flex fuel 5.7 and there was some sort of service bulletin on this issues for certain years. Reflashed the computer and did some other work to it and it was perfect since. Sold it to my neighbor and it is still just like new.

I think it may have something to do with flex fuel vehicles not not 100%, may be worth researching that and reaching out to your dealer…?

    Too many mods to come
Curious if anyone with the issue is running an oil catch can? I’ve never had this issue

Mine is a 16' with flex fuel so it may be related. All the tsb's I've seen are for older model years though

Not flex fuel related, my 17 is non-flex.

I've got a catch can now and haven't seen it happen again. Not sure if that fixed it or not
