Rust stains, how to remove

So I recently purchased a 2014 DC, It had what appears to a tool box on at one time. At the front of the bed rails there are holes drilled and rust had formed at the holes. This rust from the holes caused staining to run down the side of the box. I'm guessing maybe I can buff it out?

Sorry, the stains are gone now after buffing out, I didn't think to take pics beforehand. It took all of 2 minutes to buff out.
