    Greetings,

Before asking my first question on the forum, I'd like to provide a little background on the truck.

I purchased the Tundra new in late 1999 and in 2003 gave it to my father and I bought a 2013 Tacoma. As my father aged he drove it less and less so it's been sitting for a while. Now my 17 year old daughter wants the truck as her first vehicle.

The truck has 158K miles and runs well after replacing starter motor, A/C evaporator, timing belt/water pump along with general maintenance (plugs, air filters, oil...). The truck is currently in the body shop.

Both bumpers were rusted badly so they're getting replaced with aftermarket bumpers. On the original front bumper there are four brackets, two on right side/two on left, just below the fog lights. I can't seem to find them anywhere including the local dealership.

The question: Does anyone know to what these brackets attach? What's their purpose?

Quick question: Is this an Access Cab, Regular Cab, or Double Cab truck? Is it V6 or V8? 2WD or 4WD?

On the cab type, body parts and some drivetrain parts differ.
On the engine type, frame crossmembers and mounts can differ.
The drivetrain type can make difference with mounts, grease points, maintenance etc.

Always important to make those bits clearly visible in your profile, or offer up when posting for help. If I had those extra bits, I could potentially pull Toyota's exploded diagram to get part numbers etc.

    Welcome to the forum.

They hold your plastic splash shields in place to the left and right of the skid plate.

FYI, if you get a new bumper. Coat the backside with POR-15 and it'll last. Also, clean the front with Simichrome to prevent it rusting when the chrome chips.

Jack, thank you for the info on both the brackets and rust prevention!
