    Hey everyone.

    I just joined the community.
I am a long time Toyota truck owner. I have owned two tacomas and three tundras.

I am currently the happy owner of the current Gen tundra and out of all the things I love about it, I have one huge complaint. The fuel eco is horrendous!!!!

I will try to answer any question on the new truck but I am very curious if any other current tundra owners are having the same lack lustre fuel eco.

    I am currently getting 19.5 L/100

My 2019 tundra in comparison received 15 L/100 on average.

    best regards everyone

Yah, I heard they say it'll be broken in and get stellar gas mileage shortly after 36,000 miles (or whenever your warranty expires).

Mine also matched epa. I have a pretty good feeling this whole conversation is going to change once it warms up.

I currently get 13.5-14mpg with 65-lb 285/75R18s, extra crap bolted to my truck (like skids, a retractable tonneau, and a camping battery) and the TRD Pro suspension (+2" up front). I'll probably end up in a 3rd gen down the road, but I'm not sweating 7mpg.

By the time I'm ready to buy a 3rd gen, hopefully Toyota will have shaved some weight with Li-ion batteries and improved door jamb payload numbers, and there are some sweet tunes for that iForce Max. :burnrubber:

I'm buying a TTv6 for consistent 20-21mpg hwy. Fully expecting it too with factory tires.

These new tundras will im sure suffer the same as ecoboost. When my wife had her ecoboost, you had to baby the pedal to get mpg, which it would do. However the more you keep that needle in the boost the mpg drops like a rock.

Also on ttv6 the same is true abput big heavy tires. The larger tires and weight keep the engi e in the boost longer and in turn torpedos mpg. The mpg hit in both cases will be a larger drop than it was with the v8

the 5.7 gets 17-18 hwy with factory tires easy. 20-21 isn’t that much more.

My 22 has been getting 16.9mpg with 2300 miles on it. I haven’t been hard on it and I live in a rural suburban area. So I see decent highway with some slight city, nothing bad. I’ve used eco and regular mode with the same result. I’ve used ethanol free fuel with approximately a 1 mpg increase. I do pick up three kids from three different schools, but I don’t idle unless it’s really cold or really hot. My typical round trip is 80 miles by the time I leave the house and get back home from work.

    Hi.
What reason did the dealer give you for only getting 12 mpg with your 2022 Tundra?
There has to be something wrong.
That's a really good front shot of the 2.5 and 3.0 gens.
The Cab size differences can be seen as well as the lower stance of the 3.0 gen.
I think the Toyota label should be centered on the 2022 front grill.
It would split up the grill ?

Ya that sounds like every other mfg now. Toyota was spot on with the mileage estimate for my 2.5 gen. Maybe turbo engines are different. I never owned one since new or had an unmodified turbo car.

Not to argue, but my 2010 CM 4WD never got over 14.5mpg all factory and all hwy miles. Fuelly says the last 5 years of Tundra have avg-13.9mpg and that’s millions of miles reported from thousands of users (I currently get 13.7 with big tires and bumper replacement grillguard)

Hwy mpg is highly based on speed. At 65 the 5.7 gets decent mileage, go 80 and it falls off a cliff. The same thing is gonna happen with the new model

this is the chart you linked for the 2.5 gen.
The average is 15 - this means 2 miles in either direction is Normal.
You fall left side of the curve at 13.7 and I am on the right at 17.
We are different drivers. No big deal.

As this a 2022 Tundra thread and this Tundra has an issue.
    This is for the OP.

Outside of commuting at a steady speed like 60 mph, the 2022 reports coming in show 16-17 mpg.

Yep, my last 4.6 Gen 2 was about the same. 17.5 was high end of highway mpg. Easy foot, 65-67mph.
I had to work to get that.
Thanks for the honest assessment, I don't give credence to Gen 2 owners talking the 18+ stuff, anomaly maybe, but it isn't real world mileage. Never happen with headwinds, hills, etc.
Add tires and/or lift it's 11-12 city, 14-15 hwy at very best.

when my 2.5 gen was stock, I was getting 18 mpg consistently on long road trips. That’s unforgivable so I had to correct it with big tires, lifts, armor, and racks. Now my 13 mpg is more like it. :)
